I'm not familiar enough with the different styles & names for joysticks, so I figure I'd post pics of what I need to replace. Hopefully one of you can help me out :D

I don't know if I need a 4 way or an 8 way, or whatever. Don't they make those switchable? Take a look and see if you can help me out please. Looking to replace 1 for sure, might take two if the price is right. The one I'm replacing just flops around and I don't know enough to replace just a piece inside if needed. Unless you can offer some helpful advice that I might be able to use. I appreciate the help on this.

Hi there,

Looks like a wico joystick, and if it's loose or feels sloppy, you probably need a centering grommet. There's an example here: Mike's arcade.

You might be able to find them cheaper elsewhere, that's just the first thing that came up on a quick search. The joysticks come apart pretty easily... you just take that little e-shaped pin out with a needle nose or thin flathead screwdriver. If you don't want to get into all that, though, replacement joysticks are pretty easy to come by, and cheap, too. I think popular opinion here would lean toward just replacing the grommet and keeping that wico stick for a more authentic feel.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info, for $10 it's worth the try. I didn't want to get into something where I needed all of the special tools, get it a part and then be sitting there saying F%$#. I'm starting to find out, owning a game is only 1/20th of what's involved with it, lol. Thanks again kalevan.

Please note that the joystick you uses a special size centering hole on the grommet. A Pac Man or Robotron style WILL NOT WORK with your stick.
You need what we call a taito style grommet.
