I have a 70s williams em that I'm trying to set up for quarters. When I bought the machine years ago, someone had wired in a SPDT switch that was activated by pressing the coin return button. After a long search, I found some coin mechs for this (it's almost impossible to find those metal plates that go on the front of the mech to hold it in). I removed the SPDT switch and reconnected the wires to the second mech switch. One side works fine - when the coin goes through, it trips the 25 cent relay and adds two credits (I have it set for 2 plays for a quarter). The second side (the one I reattached) doesn't work at all. Looking at the schametic, I see only one coin switch, so I don't know how to check if I wired it correctly. Anyone have any ideas on what to check?

Many thanks
Don

if you just want the second coin mech to work the same as the first, you can remove the wires on the second switch and add wires from the first working coin inlet and rewire the second with wires added to the first switch along the same switch lugs.

It may be that the wires running to the second coin line are running to a dime/ nickle relay and that is why the second switch is not working properly. If this is not acceptable to you, you would need to study the wiring diagram to figure out how you want them to work.

I thought about doing that but since the one that works is a make/break switch setup, I don't think running a second switch in parallel will work as the one circuit will never break.

Edit: Thinking about that a little more, I might be able to do some kind of series/parallel hookup to get it to work. Have to ponder that for awhile.

Update: Hooked it up according to the diagram and it works great. I think when I disconnected the switch and hooked it back up to the coin mech, I reversed two wires.
