I have two wires coming from the bottom right of the star wars pcb that are labeled on the pcb Gnd1 and +5V1. These wires are about two feet long each and are cut. Are these voltage testing points on the pcb? If not, can anyone help me figure out where these go?

I will post pics when I can get my camera back.

Thanks,

Yeah, those are the voltage test points on the PCB for +5 and GND... most likely someone connected those to the power supply... either because their edge connector was burning up, or to prevent the edge connector from burning up.

Thanks. There must be something going on with the edge connector because the R29 keeps burning up. I have looked at the edge connector and pcb connector and I can't see any burning or bad connections.

Should I do anything with those two wires? Do I connect them to the power suppy? Where do I go from here as far as the edge connector?

Thanks again.

You should measure your +5 on your AR-2 board and then on the motherboard and see what kind of voltage drop you have across the harness. It should be half a volt or less. If it's more, then that is most likely your problem, if it's less then it could be something else. If it is more than half a volt, you could try this :

You could also drop by in person and check it out since you are in Meridian.

Nice. I see now that you are also in Meridian. That might help since I'm pretty much a newb especially with Atari stuff. I appreciate it and will take you up on dropping by.

I will measure the voltages this evening and let you know. I like your mod too and will probably have questions when it comes time for that but need to figure out where the problem lies first.

Thanks again. Cool blog too.
