Guys guys oh my god I need some quick advice. I'm going to check out a HUO Revenge from Mars tomorrow the pics I've seen look really nice the owner says there are no error messages at all and he says he replaced the monitor 4 years ago. He's asking 3500 and seems like a real nice guy. He said he would knock off a couple hundred but didnt say exactly how much. Soooo my question to you guys is what is a good price to give him that isn't an insult. Thanks guys.

Why did he replace the monitor? Because the CRT was worn out from use? A chassis problem? Or did he downgrade to an LCD?

Going to LCD is a down grade? Just wondering, i have a RMF and it has the orginal crt but thought if it ever went down to look at a LCD as a replacement.

PS. I got mine from TOMDOTCOM another Candian member here on KLOV, i believe i paid him $2,500 I love the Pin it's awesome!

Mine has an LCD and it is definitely not a downgrade. The Nucore replacement system for the pin 2000 stuff work best on an LCD and I've heard it's a big improvement over the pin 2000 computer.

I love my RFM, if it's super nice I agree $3000 is fair and if it's truly HUO, hopefully it's near mint. - Barry

An LCD is a downgrade because LCD monitors can't display a true black background. This kills the hologram effect because there is always a gray tint to the picture, and a visible monitor border. Also, the game graphics were intended to be displayed on a CGA monitor, so the graphics appear blocky and dated on a high definition monitor.

Thanks I'll definitely keep that in mind. And by the way thanks for the AVP board it's awesome and the kids love it..... Who am I kidding I love it!!!

good luck. RFM is an awesome pin.

if you snag it, post pics so we all can live vicariously through you. ;)

Good luck on the purchase. Just remember that HUO does NOT always equal mint or good condition.

That said, I bought a RFM from a collector friend long ago for $2750. It came with a Star Wars Episode 1 kit, and extra mother board, and an uncut plastics sheet too. That was back before prices were higher though. I recently sold it back to him for the same price.

I would say that in todays market, if it is truly HUO and very nice, that $3000 is a good price.

Congratulations!

Revenge from Mars is badass, and I simply DO NOT get the haters.

I passed on one locally for 3k$ that had an LCD monitor, the nucore upgrade, and LED kit. It looked beautiful, but I kept remembering playing it in the old skating rink and loving/hating the reflected screen.

It was awesome seeing the images pop on the playing field, but I hated having my ball disappear behind an image and not knowing where it would pop out at. That is the reason I ended up passing. Definitely an interesting game to find/play once in a while, but I prefer just the old school DMD pinball machines :)

Great game and worth the price. With Nucore going away for now there is a lot of people trying to push the price down. I think it is more fun than AFM too and glad I found one.

Sorry I haven't kept up with this thread guys:( I have RFM sitting in pieces in the garage because I'm finishing my basement right now. I didnt want to post pics of it in pieces.
