I appreciate any and all replies. Flying blind here.

Seller is currently gutting the cab, there are two transformers near the bottom by the foot rests, do I need these or are they for powering the marquee lights and whatnot? Also, both power supplies are shot, are they worth shipping for possible repair or should I just forget about them?

Thanks!

first off; welcome to klov

power supplies are very easy to fix and not much to 'em.

Transformers are very heavy and are usually use as an isolation for the monitor. You can't really just plug a monitor into the wall outlet. You could but bad things will happen.

Take some time and read the stickies at the top of each section and when you have a problem understanding something just ask.

you can probably fix em yourself i'll bet

Thanks, re: powersupply's; good to note.

I'm not taking the monitors, it's default mode is 24khz VGA -- if my XRGB doesn't work I can just pick up that cheap $30 GSB board and set the output of the Hikaru to standard 31khz and then remove it from the signal chain. CRT's are fantastic, but I think this game in particular benefits from a big screen.

EDIT: re; Shipping, via andygeezer @ Arcade Otaku; "You need to fill the cage with bubble wrap so there is little to no movement, otherwise the drag/flex will stress the heatsinks/BGA, once the heat sink falls off it will destory the PCB. Lot of people use glue guns to add extra blobs to keep those heat sinks down."

Can anyone point me in the direction of a forum member or repair service for the power supplies? I don't feel comfortable doing it myself at this point. They're Sun powersupplies, Naomi compatible.

from irepairsega;

If you need to ship a Hikaru system, it should be shipped out of the cage on it's metal base. This cuts down on a lot of mass and allows you to secure the pcb's in bubble wrap. This of course hinders pcb flex and vibration. The Naomi platforms are nicely secured so that there is little to no possibility of flex, so these are safe to ship in cages. Also I recommend air shipment on these. When they go ground there is more possiblilty of damage occuring.
