My Xybots has no power at the board. I have +5 to the board & no led lit on the board itself. I don't know much about this game or it's design. The main board is dark and the sound board has 2 led lights lit. Fuses and power supply seem to be working properly. Monitor comes on with a blank screen. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have +5 to the board

where did you measure the +5 volts ?
measure it before the connector where the wires go into the connector and after the connector, on the board itself

Fuses and power supply seem to be working properly

did you measure 115V A/C from the wall into the fuses, line filter and power supply ? did you test the fuses for continuity with a multimeter or did you just look at the fuses and they appeared to look ok ?

My ac measures fine. I've got +5v at the power supply and at the plug. I didn't try to measure it anywhere on the board.

Any advice appreciated. I've been all over the power supply and pcb and cannot find anything wrong. Checked board all over for continuity and it looks to be fine. Power supply seems to be putting out what it's supposed to. Marquee light comes on, monitor comes on with a white screen. Two LEDs light up on the sound board. No nothing else. I did not go over the board with a meter with power to it. It is very difficult to get to it mounted in the machine. I have no test rig & not alot of troubleshooting experience. Please throw me any thoughts you can. Thanks!

For sale: Xybots. Somewhat working. Cab, etc, in good condition. Sharp monitor. Plays left side only. Some controller microswitch problems. Please inquire for additional info or pics. I'd like $200, but will consider offers. Thank you.

From your other thread, it sounds like you got it going-

What was the issue?

As far as the controller microswitch problems go, pop out the control panel and make sure that the switches are actually getting pressed when you move the stick.
Mine had the rubber ring that presses the switches actually melted away! I cleaned up a lot of goo and finally replaced the rings with a couple of pinball rubbers.

It plays great now! There may have been another thread about it.

But in general, when you have a problem and it gets fixed, even though nobody had a clue and you fixed it on your own, it helps to post what the solution was.

Thanks for the input on the controllers. I haven't yet had them apart. I'm not getting power to the right side controls or coin mechs as far as I can tell. The power supply is the problem. It would start out for the 1st few minutes as .5+-.2 and then wander way high or way low. If I leave it on for about 20 min, it will stabilize to around 6v and I can adjust it down. Kinda wierd. I've got another ps I may try to swap it with. Not sure if I'm going to do any more to it.

Looked at my controllers today. The rubbers are causing my microswitch problem. Ordered new rubbers. Starting to get tacky in a couple of places. Cleaned the micro sw & no more sticking. Got out the manual & looked at the diagram for the contollers & coin mechs. Got both side controllers, mechs, and lights working. Now playing 100%.

Did all repairs necessary. Game was working well when I sold it today. Thanks for all of your help. It went to a very good home. Should be able to see it at www.zinfer.com.

Thanks for the sweet deal Steve. I'll be looking into the graphics glitch and get that figured out. I'm posting up a youtube link to it right now. A very clean and well kept machine.
