Can anyone help me with this " vertical collapse" I have on my Space Invaders Deluxe?

Its a Motorola M5000 monitor system I beleve

I have checked all the obvious...

No loose connections
NO burnt traces
No burn connections to any of the yoke wiring
The board looks normal.

*I do hear a high pitch hiss sound coming from the monitor area.*

The line on the screen is moving and sounds are active as if the game thinks its operateing normal.

People had said to possiblly replace all the caps - but they cant just all go bad a once -

Is there one that normally goes bad on this board?

Has anyone fixed this problem on a Space invaders upright?

Please any info would be great!

Do a Google search for: Motorola M5000 vertical collapse

I got at least a couple hits that look relevant but can't get to the links.

I recapped mine a few months back and that fixed her right up. There really aren't that many to replace. It would be nice to pinpoint the exact part causing the problem, but I'd start with fresh caps first and go from there. These monitors are 35 years old and the electrolytic caps are all dried up even if they are still 'working'.

I didn't even bother connecting my V1001 until I capped it. surprisingly, I didn't have to touch up much of anything beyond replacing the caps. I gave mine a simple green bath too... got too much other stuff on my plate with actual work at work than to bother with working on my SID though.
