Hi, I need some help/advice. My MK2 dedicated has a monitor issue. There are about 7-8 horizontal lines that go across the top of the screen. When the machine is on for a few minutes, most of them disappear. How can I get rid of these?

Oh, I should mention, I threw my MK1 board in and there are still the same lines that appear.

Also, can someone tell me how to adjust the monitor?, ie. horizontal and vertical stretching/shrinking and how to move the picture. Sorry for the lamens terms. This monitor doesn't have a nice remote board for adjusting the picture like my other machines have. There are 5 knobs on the board attached to the neck (2 on the left do nothing when I adjust them, the 3 on the right seem to be color adjustment).

Here are some pictures.

Thanks!

Well, none of those pics really show which chassis you have, but I'll guess K7400?

I don't think that chassis has a 50/60-Hz adjustment pot. You should start be recapping the chassis....

I'm new at this, so please bare with me. So, how do you adjust the monitor size/position? Or is there no way to adjust the size/position? Where it is...is where it is and there it will stay?

For a newbie, how hard is it to do a cap kit? I know I'll have to discharge the monitor before removing the chassis. But, I've never pulled a chassis out, not to mention replace capacitors.

Sorry about the pictures, yeah, it's hard as hell to get a camera up in there. The back panel of the cab is like half the size it should be. I would think it's the WG chassis you're referring to.

it's funny, I put a U5000 in my MK cab and it did the same thing, where it had a smidgin at the time that was brighter than the rest. the retrace lines weren't visible though. I thought it was the monitor until I dropped my Polo back in it.

the Polo was affected in the same spot, but you could see the retrace lines. I made those disappear after I got the colors/brightness/contrast adjusted right.

the U5000 went into my Sportstation to replace the shit U5000 that was in it... and the problem wasn't present there.

I don't know what causes this. I've asked/told of this in multiple threads and no one seems to have any answers. the only difference I can think of is maybe in the power wiring, cause both cabs are of the "newer" Midway style without isolation transformers, but if I recall this cab was an original MK2 cab and it had an iso, so that's got nothing to do with it.

any ideas why my 2 monitors of two entirely different makes are affected in the same spot with the same problem bigbadmikers got? in fact, what's even more mystifying is that Polo monitor came with my cab and it didn't do that prior to me getting it fixed. or is this just a coincidence? lol

for what it's worth, both monitors were re-capped. the caps have nothing to do with this. especially between a WG and a Hantarex... two totally different animals.

now that I recall, I think it has something to do with the JAMMA harness. the video section on mine was completely obliterated and scalped and I had to redo video signal pins.

Hey Mecha,

So, you're saying a cap kit probably won't work then?

Yes, it does have an iso transformer.

What is this about the Jamma wiring? Do you think there's something wrong there?

Funny thing though...the power connection to the chassis, the wires were pretty stupid. Someone hacked it apart to the 3 pin connector which was then spliced into some lamp cord, then the lamp cord stuck into the other 3 pin connector (hot, ground, neutral).
So, while I was messing around, the wires came right out of the 3 pin connector (kinda like a molex connector) because there was nothing holding them in (no electrical tape or anything). I had been messing with the MK1 board, put the MK2 board in, and inadvertently knocked the wires loose. I switched it on...and thought the monitor had died, haha!..until I saw what happened. I ripped the lamp cord out and wired it a bit better. No change though.

Any other advice/thoughts?

yeah, that might not be it :(

I'm really stumped on this one. I wish one of the gurus could lend some insight. lol

I'll have to compare my KI and "Tekken Tag" (that's what MK became) cabs, see what's different with the power connectors.

did you always have this problem?

Yeah, I just picked this cab up last month. Got it at a SuperAuctions for $265. I figured it would be an easy fix...

I know we're jumping back and forth between my 2 threads. Can you send me the link on how to remove the rom chips?

Thanks!
