It worked great when I picked it up but I think the long ride home did something to it, none of the LCD's on the front work so I can't even see codes, ..the machine lights come on and thats all it does, I checked all the connections and didn't see anything loose..help

Does it seem like only the LCD's are out, ie. plays blind, or that the cpu is out too?

I would check for cold solder joints at the connections, reseat and check that all the connections are good. If that doesn't work, check the voltages coming from the power supply.

Thanks for the info, the machine doesn't play at all...I looked my problem up at another site and they said the 6 pin white connection in front of the motherboard case is notorious for loosening on these machines..I took it off and cleaned it good, now I get the LCD numbers and both red and white top lights on top of the machine case work but it still doesn't play..How do you pull up error codes on the LCD?
thanks
Dave

Is it giving an error code? There should be a label on the inside of the door telling you what the codes mean.

Also, if by "not working" you mean the coin drops through or jams, make sure you have the proper coin in the coin comparator.

Also, sometimes they get weird. Sometimes you have to open the door, then turn the jackpot reset key, then cycle all the way through the tests, then wait for it to spin around again, then add a credit via the button on the coin comparator board, then pull the handle and watch it spin and stop, then shut the door (with the latch all the way down) then wait for it to spin and stop, then it will work.

If you have an error code, then we can see what is needed to fix it. The biggest problem is the 61 error - meaning a dead battery. If you can solder, you can replace it, but then you'll need a Clear chip (and a Set chip if you have a dollar bill validator) to reset the CMOS before it will play...

I would bet anything the MPU board just came loose during the drive home. What code is on the LED screen, no LCD on an S+.. Prob just an easy clear..

Check the MPU board and make sure its seated well. If you open the machine you will see it mounted on an aluminum frame with a knob in the middle. It will either be in the back or on the left side depending on which machine you have.
You can buy used, tested working MPU boards on ebay for right around $25 these days. You would have to swap the two eproms over and run the clear/set roms to set it up after the swap.
I should have some extra sets of the clear/set eproms with instructions. I had a bunch of these when I had all my IGT machines but sold all but one of them.

It seems he is not at that stage yet, just needs to clear the code. Here is a link with instructions for the codes:

DON'T USE CLEAR CHIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are ONLY used when stuck in a 61 loop. When used, they clear every setting the slot had! I learned the hard way, figured they were REQUIRED after a battery change. They are not required unless you can't clear the 61.
