I have collected together over the last two years a good list of games. I am getting ready to set up my Basement arcade and would like some advice. My room isn't very big so they will have to be put in rows. I can fit 6 reg size cabs on one side and about 6-8 on the other side depending on sizes. I have many more games at work but here is the list I will be putting in my basement. How would you line these up if you were doing it? Thanks for any inputs.

Defender
MVS 4 (big red)
Dig Dug
Popeye
World series
Galaga
Gyruss
Vs. Cab Duckhunt
Spy Hunter UR
Punchout
Red Tent
NFL Blitz/NBA Showtime

Download GoogleSketchUp- you won't be sorry! It'll save your back and you can move all your cabs as much as you want! ;)

I just checked out Google sketchup. It looks complicated? Very novice computer knowledge.

You weren't born with the knowledge of how to use it? I mean it starts you with two planes and all you have to do is create your exact room to scale. Simple!

Seriously, there's a 10 minute youtube video telling you how to do it, but I fell asleep about 3 minutes into it.

Yeah I could never get the hang of that fancy schmancy shit either. I just think of moving my games is like playing 1 man chess with really big pieces.

A few thoughts I have about this list.

Figure out where the Red Tent will go first. That will be the hardest to fit.

Leave room to step back at the Vs. Duckhunt.

The Blitz/Showtime will need room around it for multiplayer action, same with the Neo, so dont put them next to each other. Maybe place next to an "elbows in" game like Spy Hunter.

The rest would be just personal preference on how the games look. Nintedos all together? Games with ugly/missing side art stuffed in the corner? Just looking at the list, I think Defender and Dig Dug would be the most attractive games, put them in a prominent spot.

But yeah, Google Sketchup, or big friends that will move your games around all day long for you :)

I actually like getting in there and just moving them around. You can see if they'll fit with some paper, a pencil, and a tape measure, but the look is really hard to imagine without trying new setups out for real.

Im in the process of trying to fit a new member of the family in the gameroom...Showcase Dynamo (Point Blank 2)

My room is only 12x10

Daytona 2 twin - Takes up half the room
Street Fighter Turbo
Atomiswave SD
NeoGeo converted
Vewlix Clone

I dont think i can make it fit, i might have to get rid of one

*edit*
Is there a general rule of how much room space you need when arranging arcades, i mean back space...

Damnit, you just gave me a Mel Brook's History of the World flashback with that description, lol. :D
