I recently bought a Galaxian cocktail game with an Electrohome G07 CAO monitor. The monitor did not turn on when I turned the game on and I noticed that one end of red wire that passes through a fuse inside of a black plastic casing was disconnected. I can't figure out where the other end of this wire goes. This may be why the monitor does not work. Does anyone know where this wire connects to? If anyone has a G07 CAO monitor, could you maybe take a picture of the monitor chassis so that I might see where that wire goes? Thanks.I

Yeah, the fuses are supposed to be soldered to the board (pigtail fuses). Sometimes people replace them with inline auto fuse holders or something so they can use standard glass fuses. Post a picture and we can help figure it out.

he emailed me a photo. That is exactly what it is - an inline fuse holder. Solder the other wire to either the other end of the blown fuse on the board (if it's still there) or bare the wire and solder to the pad where it's supposed to go.

I looked at the monitor board again and I noticed that there are two fuses. One is mounted to the board and there is another fuse mounted above the other fuse that can be removed like a regular fuse. I checked both fuses with my multimeter, as well as the inline fuse, and they were all good. I'll email a photo of the fuses to Peale (since I am unable to post photos here). I looked at the monitor board again and I still do not see anywhere that the other end of the wire of the online fuse might go to. Also, Peale, can you explain what you mean by "bare the wire and solder to the pad where it's supposed to go."? But is there a possibility that the monitor just conked out from the stress of the shipping due to its age and that it has nothing to do with that disconnected wire?

If one side of the fuse is not connected to the chassis the monitor will NEVER work. There are two fuses. One small one (F901) is the B+ fuse. The large one (F902) is the AC line fuse. Both are supposed to be board mount solder tail fuses. Sometimes one blows or gets broken and someone replaces it with one of those inline fuse holders and wire. If one side is disconnected, you need to reattach it to the board. Look at the G07 manual for the full wiring diagram and pictures of what goes where.

IIRC, the board should even be printed showing you where the fuse goes.

To post a picture, all you have to do is click "Manage Attachments" when posting, browse to the file, and upload it. Or, you can post the file on an image sharing site and link to it here.

I found it! I found the F902 fuse (which evaded me before because it doesn't look like the normal fuses) and saw a tiny hole near it that looked like it had a broken wire in it. I guess it was the F902 fuse that blew or broke previously and was replaced with the inline fuse. I positioned the end of the wire in the hole and turned the game on and the monitor worked! However, I don't think I will be able to solder the wire in such a tiny space. I would be too scared of burning something. I wonder if using glue would work, or does anyone have any other suggestions?

No, you're going to have to bare the end of the wire, remove the old piece of wire, slide the newly bared wire into the hole you just opened up, and solder it down to the pad on the bottom.

If you feel you can not do that, there are others that do have that skill. Or, get a scrap circuit board and practice until your skills are better.

As for that other photo (don't send any more photos to that account, BTW, I've changed my address and I've noted it in my profile) someone used a fuse stacker. It's a way of adding a fuse holder to a board that has a pigtail fuse.
