This game from 2000. It will turn on and I get on the screen the boot up sequence, then it says "hard drive load complete" or something similiar then goes to start the game but nothing happens and if I press the reset button it does the same thing again. Does this sound like a bad HDD ? my 5 volts, 12 volts and all connections were fine. Is there anyway to format the Hd and reburn all the necessary files ? Thanks !

ps, both green lights on PCB are blinking.

Most likely it is a bad hard drive. I had the same issue with a golden tee 2005 green board ( Same board as Buck hunter) that I bought off ebay a few years ago. I replaced the hard drive and everything worked fine. You can usually get a hard drive off ebay for about $25 plus shipping.

Thanks, I found out I can upgrade this with a new ROM and HD image. Can anyone provide more infor about this ? I cannot sign up for vendor amusements forumn cause I have gmail.

Strange thing is if I swap out the IDE cable the new hdd will give boot errors on startup. with the ide cable that came with the game it says "data load complete" and then "loading game" but nothing happens. Starting to think it may have not been the HDD at all. any ideas ? I am currently looking for another PCB.

things done:

checked all voltages, 5v, 12v is all good

checked all connections

start button is not even hooked up, so it is not stuck on

both green lights on pcb blink as they should, and red "IDE" light blinks when accessing HDD

The next thing you could try is changing the video card. I once had a GT 2003 that would reset after the hard drive load was complete. I first suspected it was the hard drive and when that didn't work I swapped the video card out of another GT board. It's easy to do if you have another board kicking around. Usually in these circumstances, you have to decide when to cut your losses or if it is cheaper to get used working board.
These boards also have security chips that are matched to the specific board, and once upgraded they are not swappable, or at least that's what the tech told me from IT when I was having these issues 4 years ago.

The HD was replaced and still same issues. Youre telling me if I change the MPU that it will not work ? I would think if that were the case, the new HDD would say something about the security chip. I am all for replacing the video card or the mpu/card combo, but cannot find these anywhere! neither used or new, having trouble finding any for sale.

If you change the MPU with a working one if you have a good hard drive imaage, it will definitely work. The video card off a Golden Tee Fore board will work if that is the problem as they are easier to find cheaper on ebay.

Changing the security chip and ROMS from a BBH board to a GT board to turn it into a BBH will not work, even though they are the same board.
