Hey Guys,

The speech on my Berzerk cabinet has not worked since I got it. Well I was messing around with the cabinet tonight and well I still don't have speech I now don't have any red on my monitor :004_scry:

I've got another wiring harness that I am now thinking of trying to install but I have NO freaking idea about the no red on the monitor.

Seriously please help me. I want this machine to just work. I've got two SB-1000, 3 VSU-1000, wires pulled out of connectors and now a monitor that will only display yellow and blue.

Any help that I could get for this machine would be fantastic.

Thanks

Since the connectors probably need repinned anyways, just repin the harness in the game with new crimp trifurcon pins and clear up any confusion about what wire goes where using the other harness.

Well I moved my Berzerk into a new room tonight in my house, full planning on tackling the video issue and then was going to work on getting the sound figured out . . .

Well I fired the game up, still don't have speech . . . but the video is now fine! Really? I just couldn't believe it. I haven't played in a week, I move the machine all of 30 feet and the video starts working! Not complaining, just hoping to figure out the speech as well!

Thanks

Yep, that page helped me get 3 Berzerks working :)

Speech died on my own cab only after a couple of hours. Replaced he voice chip with one from another voice board and problem solved. That board was giving start up errors (missing beeps) before so there was an issue on the board but the chip was fine. I had the luxury of having lots of boards to switch around with....

Been running 100% ever since
but first of all check the flat cables, they go bad a lot....

If intermittent problems - you have to reflow all the header pin connection points and replace the inter-connect cables for starters. That helps you narrow down your search with issues and leads you to a bullet-proof Berzerk game in the end.....

Here is my repair page for some tips:

Good luck!

Thanks for the link! I was messing with the cabinet last night and started to really mesh with everything. I had a spare RSR-1000 and switched that out and the one I got needs some SERIOUS work, but when I plugged the original one back in the monitor REALLY popped and the colors are now vibrant. The weird this is when I had the spare board in I could kind of hear the speaker putting out a weird noise as if it were trying to do the speech.

Thinking about checking all the wires between the VSU-1000 and the BS-1000 to make sure all those connections are working.

I know the volume is not standard on my machine and I would love to convert it back to stock, anyone have detailed images of the stock volume control and wiring in their Berzerk cabinet?

Here is what mine looks like currently:

The speech issue for me was the TDA-2002 on the sound board I think. I replaced it with one from Bob Roberts and the sound was back. I got one on ebay going cheap and it didn't work so beware who you buy them from.
