I have a thread in the restore section as I did not think I was going to run into this issue.

After talking to Andy, it looks like the power brick in this unit is not the correct one for an AD. There are a lot more pics in the other thread. I took some today of the wiring as Andy wanted to know if someone had hacked it. I cannot tell from looking at it myself. If they did, I think they must have done a pretty decent job.

This was supposed to go to a church auction fundraiser next month. I was already worried about time, and now I am really worried.

Lots of pics of the brick in the thread I linked. I guess I can post some of them here too.

I'm not online much till tomorrow night, but I'll help you get this straightened out. The part number for your brick suggests it came from a LL, which is basically the same as an Asteroids brick, which I'm pretty sure would make it wrong for a v2000 monitor.

We'll have to look closely at the pinouts, and measure the voltages on the brick to figure out what's going on, but I can help you when I have more time tomorrow.

Thanks Andy. I'm reading some other threads too with Dockert helping on some Atari PS stuff.

Uploaded some pics of the connectors for the monitor. From what I understand, the wiring harness should not allow the v2000 monitor to be connected while also allowing the A034623 transformer to be connected as well without someone hacking the wiring. But I can find no signs that anything was hacked.

Maybe someone can tell me if something looks out of place or not as it should?

Can you post a pic looking down into the main connector on the brick?

Here you go. Plus a view from the bottom, and the connector that plugs into it.

So, I think I found something interesting. I have been digging around for all of the schematics and manuals for Lunar Lander and Asteroids Deluxe. At first, everything was supporting that this has the wrong brick in it. I kept wondering how this brick ended up in this game when it certainly appeared to be in there for a long time and the wiring harness showed no obvious indications of being altered. I started wondering if the monitor was added recently and not the correct one and was reading up on those as well. Then, I came across the schematics specifically for the cocktail version of Asteroids Deluxe. I had been looking at the schematics for the upright version. I would have expected them to be the same. But look at the picture attached. It clearly shows what I have wired in my game. the brick is numbered as being for a Lunar Lander, but it does not have pins 10 and 14 connected. Could this be how early ADs were wired vs later ones? Any theories appreciated. :)
