Never messed with an american changer until today.. Anyone have any advice about them? This AC6000 is acting pretty weird.

1st time on it will take a bill $1, $5, $10, $20. But it will dump out 15 coins per dollar($1=15 $5=75). changing the dip switches makes no change in what it dumps out. After it pays out, the dollar bill validators quit working..

pressing the dump button shows 00100 which is low coins in 1 hopper, 2nd hopper is good. 1 hopper is bad(does not run in dump mode). I am going to take the hopper apart and see if there is anyting visibly wrong. Anyone happen to have parts to this unit(hopper and/or pcb for sale)? I cleaned the 2 bill validators and now they both work. The low coin light does not work.

I think the main board is bad.. I am going to call american changers in the morning. To see what they think. I have the manual and it does not offer much help..

Also some wires that are not connected. I think the ones on the back of the door are for additional features. there is a 5 or 6 pin connector on the pcb between the hoppers connectors that looks to be unsued. 6 or 7 pin connector going to and from from both DBV that are not used.

here are some pics.

My guess is bad main board
Second guess, dirty opto on token hopper, not counting correctly

thanks for the reply. I don't think it could be the opto board in the hopper as its counting multiples of 15 every time.

Took apart the bad hopper.. all plastic inside. 2 metal contacts for a coin level sensor and the opto board.

just got off the phone with CS.. They think 1 bad hopper and bad pcb. one hopper looks like it works. They were thinking that it was jackpotting, but I don't think thats the case as its consistent dumping 15..

2nd hopper did not work after I cleaned it so probably a bad motor. It knows when it has coins, but it does not run. Maybe something more is wrong with it as it says error 2 when its pplugged in by itself.

so $250 for the pcb and $220 for the new hopper.

Replacement pcb and hopper arrived today. Dropped them in and it works great now.

american changers CS was helpful. Although they seem to be going down a set play list, eventually someone confirmed what I thought, bad pcb..
