Hey Guys,
My Star Wars CP needs a little love from the KLOV brethren. I currently have a mathbox test divider error(s). In test mode, the report starts by saying "OPT 5W NUM DIV DEN IS ERROR" and then procedes to give 5 strings of code. I can list them but each string starts with NNNN and some combination of F and N for the second 4 in the string.
Anyways, heres what its doing. The game works for the most part. But during game play, the star field is collapsed down to about a 5"x5" square in the center of the screen. The tie fighters are present and look normal for the most part, but they periodically jump to other parts of the screen leaving draw lines like they are jumping to light speed. Playing it is actually a little trippy.
Before the monitor went out, putting it on the disabled list for about 7 months, the screen was shifting in size just a little. But I assumed that was the x&y size pots on the amplifone deflection board. I still think it was the pots, but since the size seems stable, it may be related.
Also, the linear and binary scale tests pauses briefly 3 or 4 times as it scales from large to small. I'm really not sure if that is normal or not.
So I'm looking for suggestions as to what to check/try or previous experiences from the pros out there. And before anyone asks, heres whats been done to the machine thus far.
1. Power brick & AR-2 rebuilt (sense mod added)
2. PCB Edge Connectors replaced about 8 months ago
3. NOS interconnect (I think)
4. Filterboard removed
5. Ampliphone Monitor Rebuilt and recapped, adjusted and looking nice
6. Voltage checked & adjusted at the "Main" PC board
7. All pcb edges were cleaned and had Deoxit pro gold applied to ensure good connection
So where is the "mathbox" located. Is it part of the Main, sound, or AVG. I'm guessing the latter. What roms, proms, rams, make up the mathbox, and can a replacement mathbox chip be purchased. I'm looking for suggestions as I need this thing running for a game night towards the end of next month and I doubt I have time to send it off to be repaired.
I do have a spare and I will be retesting it, but I think it was giving me an error over a video ram socket or a temperamental interconnect board. I'll try to test that tomorrow.
So suggestions are very appreciated, and thanks in advance.
