Hey everyone...Meg from High Scores here.

We had two games go down this same week and we're hoping you can help. First, setting the stage...

One day, we added a new game to the store, and the breaker tripped. We took a game off of that circuit and when we switched them back on, Donkey Kong powers up, the marquee lights up, but the monitor is black. It doesn't make any sound (not when you put a coin in or try to start a game). We tried to replace the fuses that we know to replace (the ones down at the power supply, and a small .03 amp one behind the monitor) but with no luck. Ideas? Do we need a new monitor?

Now on to Star Wars. Another bad power decision...we plugged more into one circuit then usual, and while the breaker didn't trip, Star Wars kicked it. The game powers on, you can hear sound when you put quarters in, but the monitor is black except for during certain parts of the game a vertical pink strip appears - it looks something is going on behind it but the monitor stays otherwise black.

These may be hella rookie questions, but we're mainly collectors with a laughable technical knowledge so help is appreciated!

It's rarely fuses, unfortunately.

It sounds like something in the high voltage section of the chassis on the SW may have crapped out.

When you power the DK on, can you hear the monitor power up? (makes the crackling or GONK sound?)

If you can unplug power from the DK monitor and make sure it's getting electricity (measured with a simple multimeter, should be roughly 115 volts AC) that'll be a place to start. If it is, the chassis is suspect. If not, the power supply at the bottom of the cabinet is probably the issue.

So it looks like the Star Wars is suffering from "Verticle collapse" - a fellow klover is going to hook us up and change the low voltage kit (I might have made that up) and update some other things in there. Since its on and played so often we want to kind of "fireproof" it as best as we can.

The DK we made second in the list. I hear you say chassis...but I wanted to check one (easier to us) thing - could it be the power supply?

Thank you all for your help!

6100 is fixed. Also installed a LV2000 and a few other upgrades. Converged it and adjusted the color levels too. Looks real nice. I'll run it all day tomorrow (Monday) while I'm working to make sure it's solid. I can come by in the evening to re-install it. I'll call you.
