I need help with the wiring on a stern Catacomb Rectifier Board

http://www.lakesidepinballparts.com/pinballrectifier.html

The old wiring was hacked up and most of the wiring in the connectors were cut and straight soldered to the board. I have installed new crimp ends on J2 and J3 and fixed those, but I'm having a hard time figuring out where the wires on J1 go.

I have 5 wires running to the area, but the wiring diagram has 7 wires...I know there are 2 sets of 2 and was wondering if they ran jumpers from pin to pin.

If someone could take a picture of this wiring I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks, dave

J1 is the connector that goes to the playfield. You've got GI, GI return, switched illumination, solenoid voltage and ground. That's 5 things so technically you could get away with using 5 wires.

If your harness from the playfield has 5 wires and it's not hacked I would assume that they (Stern) just felt that they didn't need the additional wiring. I would consider adding extra wires for decreased resistance to current flow but it might not be necessary. I would also jumper across all available pins for each bus. For example... there are 2 pins for switched illumination. If you have one wire going to the playfield it should be jumpered at the rectifier board so that wire is connected to both pins.

I have a couple of Stern games from that era but not that specific game so I wouldn't trust the pictures. Your best option is going to be using the schematic. I looked at a couple of them and they all have only 5 wires from the playfield to J1.

There's really only one "set of 2". That being the general illumination. I described the function of all 5 wires above but to directly answer your question... you need a minimum of 5 wires from J1 to the playfield.
