I'm restalling my NBA Jam TE Kit back into my NBA Jam cab.

I ran into aLittle problem when it comes too putting the cables back into the sound board?

Seems that one is running off the Main Harness? and other is coming from around the switching PS.

Can someone please tell me which onces should be plugged into where? I would hate Fry anything!

TY Everyone!

hmm Mine does'nt seem that way. 2 coming from the Harness and then 1 with only 2 wires seeming too come from near the PS.

I can take a pic of the inside of my dedicated smash tv or trog. Both run on boards similar to NBA jam.

here is the manual. take a look at page 37 and 38
http://www.crazykong.com/manuals/NBAJam.man.pdf

the only wire that could possibly come from the haness is the volume pot connector that hooks up at P% on the sound board.

Yeah i'm only having problems with the wires goes too the sound board. 2 have the very same connector Pin number.

The Volume one might be the one i'm questioning .

ok if you look at the schematics on page 37 it says only p1, p5, p6, and p7 are used. it tells you the color of the wires in the connector that goes there.

TY for all your help. I figured out the connections. Started it and said there was a Cmos Eror.

I changed the settings in the game . Becouse everything was Reset? I rebooted the game and its telling me that custam Chip UE 13 is bad?

Could this have been something i did? What is the UE 13 Chip? It's the Last Chip it tested before booting the game.

Pretty sure its a very common failure. Those last 2 big square chips in the bootup sometimes say they are bad. I think 1 is surface mount. I pulled the non surface mounted one and swapped it once with another board and it did not change (2nd board had passed the chip). Luckily the boards are not worth alot.

If your worried about the sound board and its wiring, you can boot up with the board completely removed. You get no audio, but the game pcb should work.

The main reason i asked the question where the chip was. When i first Booted the game backup i was getting Rebooting after Rebooting. I had no sound anywhere so i figured i might have the cable on wrong too the sound board and the main board. Sure enough i switch the cable around from the Sound board going into the game board. After switching that i booted the game and then the game played with sound once coined up.

So i changed the modes for sounds and pricing. Turned the machine off and plugged it into something else. That when i got this Chip Failure. I just wondering if the chip in question is on the sound board that i did'nt switch the Ribbion cable?

Custom Chip UE13 is the main surface mount chip. according to channelmanic the soldered pins on it tend to break off from the board being flexed.

but fear not, I have a story to share with you. my Mortal Kombat 2 board exhibited the same exact problem, ever since I bought it, and that was about 2 years ago. I finally had this brilliant idea of checking the game roms for any corrosion on the chip legs and sure enough, they looked very shitty. a little dabble dabble with sandpaper on the legs later, and the Custom Chip error went away.

of course I had some other problems with the board... but I fixed that too.

I can't remember the location of the roms, mine were just labeled over with masking tape saying like MK2 3.1. maybe you can find something similar on yours. FWIW, they'll probably be EPROMs, the ones with the little windows. I'm not entirely sure if the graphic roms have them.

it's also worth noting that these T-unit boards are a total pain in the ass in the way of "chip creep", the phenomenon where the roms back themselves out of the sockets from power cycling. you can try reseating them by pressing down on them with your thumbs, making sure your board isn't on a surface where it will bend or flex (I usually stuff some bubble wrap under the roms I'm working on).

hope you have an easy solution.

TY for the respond. Heres what i don'nt get.. It says the chip failed? Then i hit any Button and the game starts and plays fine.

What am i missing with this chip?

on MK2, it won't render the graphics right. everything will look like a shadow. and it will play all the wrong sounds, particularly the baby crying sound. and if you press start the game will just reset.

what it does with NBA Jam? I don't know.
