We have some 'orphan' vaps records that are not tied to any account today, though I am able to tell who they belong to. These orphan problems are old old issues... I fixed a bunch today and emailed some people and dealt with their responses, but there are still some unknowns.

None of these people have apparently logged onto our sites in many many years, at least not with the full names.

Before I delete all of them, is anyone in contact with any of these people?

1. Mark Jenison (IL) - 57 games http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/member_detail.php?member_id=51 [UPDATE, old account deleted, vaps entries moved to existing/newer acct]

2. Tom Loranger (MA) - 25 games http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/member_detail.php?member_id=274

3. Ed VanderVeen - 2 games http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/member_detail.php?member_id=335

4. Robert Hazelby (UK) - 35 games http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/member_detail.php?member_id=501

5. Mathew Moses (MN) - 10 games http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/member_detail.php?member_id=518

6. James Orton (UK) - 3 games http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/member_detail.php?member_id=696

7. Dave Boyer (Ontario, Canada) - 15 games - http://www.arcade-museum.com/members/member_detail.php?member_id=777

Thanks,

Greg

Since this is a VAPS topic...

In your other VAPS-related posting about Unlisted games, you asked for other VAPS suggestions. However, we are unable to reply there. So, I will once again mention the VAPS issue that bothers me the most (especially since it appears it was lost in the forums the other times I mentioned it when you were last doing updates to it).

The Search function for adding game does not recognize multiple word titles (Crystal Castles, Marble Madness, Golden Axe, etc) and will return no results. If you just type in Crystal, you WILL get Crystal Castles, as well as several other titles. Since most newbies are inexperienced, they may not think of trying just one word, and will have trouble adding games that way since the database doesn't recognize the title when complete....

Following Mods lead......How about fixing the title of the video game Extra Inning.....it's listed as Extra Innings. Man, that's bugged me for five (maybe more) years.......it's not plural, there's no "s" at the end :)

I'm going to go ahead and kill the orphan records above and the associated game entries for all but one or two of the people where they have gotten back to me.

As far as the other comments...

Mark Jenison is alive and well and has a forums.arcade-museum userid of mjenison.

Fixed… I slid the records from his other VAPS account into the one being used.

I'm easily reached via PM or email.

Um… some of the scripts are being modified to work better with PHP version 6 (an ongoing process) and something must have broke. This is a significant issue and we'll look at it today.

This is an easy one, and I just fixed it.

We are in the middle of adding some scripts that compare technical detail in our database to what exists in the MAME database. And, as mentioned, we are looking to rework how the backend handles submissions here. These new scripts will go online in stages, and I'm sure as they do people will have a nice long list of fixes and updates.

Whenever y'all get to doing the KLOV updates, will you ask for some suggestions then?

One thing I would like to see right by the "monitor resolution" would be a line stating whether the game was positive or negative sync. It seems that many repair questions about screwy monitors have something to do with incorrect sync, and perhaps that would help those who are trying to hook it up right.

And I know of at least two games that have the incorrect info for monitor resolution, and some of the games (like Golden Tee) need to have a 'Dual-Res" listing to let people know that a dip switch selection will allow the game to work with either CGA or EGA...

Hell, Tora Tora lists a color monitor.....in actuality, that game uses a black and white monitor.

Maybe some sorta "help me weed out errors" post.

I changed the Tora Tora entry.

We might get to a 'help me weed out errors post' but first I might find a way where people can do that on the individual game pages.
