Alright, so I've had my Joust for a while now, and it has also been down for a while now. I have narrowed it down to the monitor. I am getting a steady yellow on the screen. The wiring harness is pretty mangled from other owners, but I know that in its current state, it used to work. I'm thinking of trying to find a flow chart to see what exactly is wrong with this thing. The problem is is that I cannot seem to identify it. Any help would be great.

So the game plays blind and you're sure it's the monitor?

The board I know works, what could be causing the yellow though?

It could be the monitor, but I was just checking to see if you are at that point. Did you check the voltage, etc.? All kinds of problems with the ribbon cables on these and the linear power supply. What exactly are you seeing on the screen?

If you're saying you have verified the boardset works on a different monitor, then I'd start with a cap and reflow on the 4600. Some don't like them, but they are pretty reliable after that. They are just involved to work on, like Sanyos.

i would do a cap kit, reflow ALL header pins and yes there is alot of them on that chassis, and check continuity on the video input wires from monitor back to game pcb. if that doesn't fix test transistors on the neck and main pcb for the colors and finally test tube. do all this after you check the game pcb with another monitor and make sure its truly in the monitor or not.

Any good places I can get a cap kit?

Thanks for all the help everyone. Hopefully I can get this thing back up and running. I already have reflown the solder points for all the the daughter card connectors. And no results. I'm going to start doing more over the weekend. As well as cleaning the dirty thing.
