Hi,

I need to get a cap kit for my chassis. I believe it's a WG 25K7191 'cause a schematic came with the manual found inside the cab. But, I want to make sure before ordering. I hope the pictures are good enough. It's very hard to get a camera inside a MK2 cab. Can someone help me identify this thing? I'm new at messin' with monitors. Thanks.

That is a U5000...

Thanks modessit. That's the one, I did a search for U5000 and found a picture that looks just like mine.

Edit: The one you posted looks good too. Thanks. Missed it while I was searching.

Okay so it's a WG U5000 chassis. Is that good or bad? Are these easy to do a cap kit on?

Not easy. Not hard. Has more caps than the older chassis types.

They're known to have some problems, and there were a couple of post-production upgrades for it. they're nice when they work.

Also, it is a dual-res monitor - can work with either standard or medium resolution games - so that makes it more valuable. You switch res modes by moving the jumper plug in the middle between 15k/25k (or Low/High). Don't move the jumper while the monitor is powered up or you'll blow the HOT...

BTW - the sticker on your chassis (seen in the 1st pic) starts with "WGM 2550"

25 = 25" tube
50 = U5000

I lost part of the usable screen, top inch and bottom inch of the monitor. No matter how much I adjust, it won't cover it. So, I'm hoping the cap kit will fix it.

Exactly, nor the v-pos. When I adjust it extends to one inch from the top and bottom, then begins to shrink again...weird.

Ok, thanks. I'll order a cap kit. I wonder if "folder over" is causing some of the lines at the top of the image...maybe.

When that's not available..... The "P738" tells the tale too. ;)
And some of those U5000's are NOT dual resolution.

If it does not have the second set of pins to change the jumper to then it's strictly a medium resolution. (hard to tell in the pics provided if the second set is actually there)

Good info, thanks...I'll only be using this as a medium resolution.

Was just browsing back through your pics and I do see the second set of pins peeking out in one pic, so it is the dual resolution model.

BTW- the U5000 can be a pia some times.
