So, just bought this, guy I bought it from said he bought it working from an arcade, had it dismantled and moved to his place, then upon putting it together he was unable to get a picture on the screen. I have traced it down to what appears to be a power issue. I have the toshiba projo version, and I have what appears to be two different power sources, I'm assuming one is for the mitsubishi version of the game. I hooked the power up to the monitor, but after tracing it down in the base, it looks as if it goes to a connector that needs another wire. Can i get some input from fellow top skater owners or maybe someone that knows about this game? I'll attach some pics...

The black connecter appears to be the end of the power cable. Is there simply another cable that it connects to? Im confident all I need is to get proper power to this monitor and I will be in business. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. I will also attach pics of the other "unused" connecter I found in the bottom of the base...I'm assuming this is for the mitsu projo....

Update: So I hooked it up to an old plasma I had lying around (yes, I just said that..lol) and game fires up perfectly. That basically tells me I just gotta find out what the deal is with that power cable going to the projo.....

Cancel the cry for help, figured it out! Also, anyone have any experience with the mechanics of the skateboard? Seem to be having some trouble with moving the player in diff directions....

hey, before the PTV took a shit on our Top Skater, I opened up the floor panel right in front of the coin door to find the potentiometer for the skateboard.

I say open that up, remove the bracket that holds the pot (I forget what all this looks like honestly) and throw the game into test mode, run the pot to both extremes and then do the math to figure out the center and then throw it back in exactly as such. make sure it's locked in tight... ours was loose as a goose for a long time and was erratic as hell until I tightened it.

there's also I'm sure a "volume setting" in test, be sure to calibrate the pot in there too. good luck. I can't help you with any of the in-game stuff cause the Hitachi PTV seriously took a shit.

I found the pot, the connector on the right seems wobbly/loose. If I disconnect it, the skater stops going only to the left, connect it back, problem returns. I figured being a sega game, there would be a calibration mode like with my star wars trilogy, but I cant find one. Any idea whats causing it to veer to the extreme left no matter what position my skateboard is in?

did you physically center the pot first?

also, I know there's a calibration feature, cause I've messed ours up before with it. lol

if you go to www.sauservice.com there should be a manual available online that can step you through on how to adjust it.

Got the pot squared away, (thanks mecha) now, i need to do something about the picture. Needs a little adjustment. Its the toshiba projo, and I tried my toshiba lcd remote, with minimal sucess, so Im going to attempt to program my harmony remote to control this...only thing is, I dont know the model number, and I cant find one in the manual....anyone know the toshiba model #?

edit, found the model number, no dice, harmony doesnt have the codes in their database, trying to dredge up some model numbers around the same year hoping the codes will work...

double edit: I can get in the menu to see brightness and contrast, but not convergance. I dont even see an option for it....strange...

Depending on the model of the monitor, the convergence may be a bunch of pots on the convergence board. The one I had that had it in the menu had a strange sequence to get to the convergence IIRC.

we got a Toshiba in our Wave Runner, I can't remember for the life of me though what the interface looked like. I just remember running into the Brightness/Contrast part, until I read the manual for the game and then I got how-tos on how to do the convergence.

the Toshibas are nice in that they have AUTO-CONVERGENCE. doing it on the Hitachi that's in our Top Skater = fucking terrible. the Mitsubish in our House of the Dead wasn't so bad, was just the general static convergence, not the dynamic shit like TS had.

let me pull up the link for Wave Runner's manual

EDIT: my mistake, was the Daytona USA 2 manual. you'd think these dicks would compile manuals just for the different types instead of having to cherrypick which one supports your PTV. http://www.sauservice.com/manuals/Daytona2dlx_html/28day2dlx.html

as noted by DogP, there's one with a control panel and one without -- this apparently handles both.
