I am looking for some guidance on fixing the guns on a Revolution-X game. I was able to repair all of the other issues with the game, but neither gun fully works.

- Gun 1 (left) - All buttons work, but the left and right motion isn't working. In diagnostics mode I can see the X/Y axis numbers move the full range for up/down, but left/right only moves about 10 (not always the same 10). In game play the gun sight is on the far left hand side of the screen. I didn't open up the gun or base, but I am wondering if the pot (I am assuming it has pots like Operation Wolf or the like) is just loose.
The springs are also gone or broken.

- Gun 2 (right) - All buttons work, but neither left/right or up/down respond at all. In diagnotics mode the X/Y for both rapidly change all up and down the range without me touching anything or the gun moving. I don't know what to think there, unless it is a logic issue and the game doesn't know what to think or how to measure where either x/y is. Again, this applies to both up/down and left/right. The springs are also gone or broken.

I don't think it is an optic issue, at least for the left gun, since during game play it does flash and destroy targets (as long as they are on the far left hand side of the screen).

Any help is appreciated.

I have had to work on one of my guns before, it kept getting out adjustment. If you take the assembly apart you will see there are pots driven by sheaves that have a rubber tread. On my game the rubber tread on the horizontal was slipping, I don't know if it is possible to get new treads, I just super glued mine in place. The pots could definately be bad or have a loose connection. There are no optic parts in the gun, it just uses the pots to act like a joystick.

That is good info. Thanks. That will probably fix the left gun, but probably not the right, since the X/Y test doesn't have any idea what the position of the gun is (so it is not getting a reading/measure from the pots).

Bad pots in the guns or broken wires or both can cause all of the problems you have listed here.

Check the the wiring isn't chafing at the movable points common problem on T2s. If all the POTs and everything rings out ok I bet it's the gun PCB.

To cmplete this thread, there were several problems, including:

- A couple of broken wires on player 2 (right) gun (causing diagnostic to read all sorts
of weird, rapid numbers)
- The pots were slipping
- The plastic gears were cracked
- The guns needed to be aligned in the diagnotics menu

The game now plays great! Thanks for all of the suggestions.
