I picked up a cheap dart star 2000 board that has been upgraded to the spectrum genesis 1994 electronics recently because Im hoping to start playing darts again. I knew it would be a project, it was missing the matrix, monitor and the guts of the player select button. Besides that I think it is all there. Anyway, been trying to trouble shoot it so I can figure out what parts I need to order. Im hoping someone has a wiring diagram they could show me, there has been some stuff unplugged and the power supply wasnt wired up right to the power cord. What Ive done so far is get the power supply cord wiring fixed, took out the player 4 button guts and moved them to the player select button and guessed on the connections on that. So I got the peter chau power supply to light up, The florescent board front lights to come on, the small black box led to light up and the player select button to to light up solid when I plug it in. What I havent been able to do is get anything to show up on a lcd monitor that I connected or the player select buttons to show anything. I would think a newer lcd monitor would work wouldnt it? I know the electronics are from 94, but I thought that stuff was all backwards compatible. Also is there a power on switch?. There was a push button hanging behind the coin door that had wires routed up to the board, but it was unplugged. I plugged it in to a header that looked the same and it was close to where it was wired to, but it doesn't seem to do anything for me. The main board doesnt seem to have a status led and with no display I am kind of stuck. It sounds like the complete electronics upgrade for the newest stuff isnt that expensive from what Ive read on the board, but I would prefer to go the route of just a button and a matrix for now and save some money. Just want to make sure my electronics actually work before buying stuff. Also could a bad battery cause it to have no display? Any help I can get would be great, thanks

Here's the same LONG RUN-ON PARAGRAPH, but easier to read:

I picked up a cheap dart star 2000 board that has been upgraded to the spectrum genesis 1994 electronics.

I'm hoping to start playing darts again. I knew it would be a project, it was missing the matrix, monitor and the guts of the player select button.

Besides that, I think it is all there. Anyway, been trying to troubleshoot it so I can figure out what parts I need to order.

I'm hoping someone has a wiring diagram they could show me, there has been some stuff unplugged and the power supply wasn't wired up right to the power cord.

What I've done so far is get the power supply cord wiring fixed, took out the player 4 button guts and moved them to the player select button and guessed on the connections on that.

So I got the Peter Chou power supply to light up, the florescent board front lights to come on, the small black box led to light up and the player select button to to light up solid when I plug it in.

Here's the basics:

The power switch is a pushbutton switch located on the back of the machine near where the power cord goes in.

The dangling pushbutton switch inside the coin door is the test/game mode switch. One push gets you into test & adjustments and push it again and you are in game mode (ready to play).

Hi Ken, thanks for the reply. Was hoping you would find this post.

Ive gone thru those documents already from one of your other posts, by chance do you have a wiring diagram for this board? My main issue is I dont seem to be getting any kind of display to a monitor. So I cant use most of the trouble shooting steps in those documents. I feel like Im missing something, like a power switch or something to get it to boot up.

I would suggest contacting tech support or parts department at Network Sports (the current name of Medalist) and asking for copies of the wiring diagrams for the Spectrum original Genesis.

I have working PCB for these boards. Bad battery doesn't do anything but keep scores You can use a 2032 holder and put it in. These boards show a boot sequence when they work. Could be bad chips or a bad board. I can check the chips and have the programming files for the chips if needed.

Thanks for the response. I ended up finding another project board and between the two of them, I made one work. There is something wrong with the original board thats not letting it boot, but I didnt try swapping chips to check that, just for fear of damaging the older equipment. I even took one of the extra buttons and put it behind the coin door so when I press the coin return it adds credits. Only thing I havent been able to find is some kind of volume control. I have version 3.2 and the service menu doesnt seem to have any adjustments on it. Its just kinda quiet. Im happy, for just over 200 I have a good working board and a bunch of spare parts.
