I picked up an Arkanoid machine this weekend for a $100 Bucks. Works Great but no sound, and is in pretty good condition considering the age. It is a Bootleg Conversion of Arkanoid but I was wondering what it could have been in a former life. It is not like other cocktails I have seen of Arkanoid as it has both fire buttons on the same side as opposed to one on each side. it seems to originally been a wood grain veneer. Any ideas on the Manufacturer?

This is my first Vintage Arcade machine so I would like to make it look like new. Any pointers/ideas are welcome. I would like to do it up nice so it is not an eyesore in the tv room. You know wives....

Thank-you in advance.

Kinda hard to tell for me, coin door is throwing me off.

But looks to be a lot of yellow showing from underneath the black paint on the control panels.
You could try stripping those a bit more and see what shows up. (maybe use CitrusStrip or something if need be)
You could open it up and look inside for any kind of tags stapled to the inside of the cabinet.
Might even be some tags on the wiring harness depending on how much was yanked for the conversion.
Maybe a pic or two of the insides might help determine what it could have been as well.
(layout of the power supply area and such)

Roger that, I will take some pics of the guts and have a look around in there, I will up the pics when I get a chance. Yeah I kinda wish that they hadn't painted everything but I remember the types of low cost solutions that were out there for arcade owners.

here are pics from inside the Cabinet.

Search for any old tags / paper inside you can find. There may even be some laying in the dust at the bottom. Also, look for pen & marker writing on the inside of the cabinet...

Inside was clean short of a few pencil markings to line up mounts. There was however a sticker on the Transformer that said For Sunshine Donuts.
