Need help cleaning a JAMMA board and reseating ROMs

I've been having some trouble with my NBA Jam (see this thread) and I want to give my board a full once-over. I plan to take out the main board and clean the edge connectors with a pencil eraser, and then I want to reseat and clean all the ROMs.

My question is a simple one - what's the proper way to remove the ROMs and reseat them? I've never done that before and didn't even realize they could be detached. If anyone can give me a quick primer or point me to another thread or website I'd really appreciate it! My searches have turned up empty.

I always link this video:

you need QuickTime to view it.

there's some other links at the bottom of the page that you can check out too:

I personally use a 1/4" flathead screwdriver, I slide it under one side of the rom, twist slightly, then remove the screwdriver and do the same to the other side. gradually do this, because if you try popping a rom out more biased on one side, you can bend the pins.

if this makes sense, if your screwdriver is skinny enough, you COULD shim it between the rom and socket with one hand, and use the other hand to lightly apply some force downward on the rom (so as to make it not pop out) and wiggle the screwdriver all the way through to the other side to remove it faster. (if I recall RevX's rom removal video uses this approach, albeit with a modified [bent] flathead)

the latter method requires a bit of practice. always lift the rom out STRAIGHT UP, cause the pins will get bent if you don't. :)
