I finally have the thing playing like it should except for the shifter... Anyone know why the shifter wouldn't be working in game or in test mode?

Also anyone know if the "music" is supposed to be super low? The car/boost sounds are loud, but the music is almost non-existant. I've swapped the wires around, messed with the pots, and still the same issue.

You need to verify it's running 6 channel in window. Which requires booting with keyboard and mouse, executing GVTShutdown and running the HD audio app in control panel. Download the Carbon manual. I believe it walks you through this. If not, one of the game bulletins on GVRs sight does.

You can use the HD Audio app to verify you have the speakers hooked up correct also.

How does one execute the GVR shutdown? I've been in the OS, but only when something breaks and it drops me to the OS... I've never tried to get in to the OS on a working unit.

Hit the windows key, arrow up the start bar, highlight "GVRShutdown" and press enter. Or you can run task manager and kill all the GVR processes. GVR Shutdown is easier.

You need to do it before the game loads. It acts all wacky if you don't kill it in time.

I had a much easier time diagnosing the sound on Carbon using the HD audio app. Just don't adjust the volumes in that app. My guess is the sub/center channels are swapped and your trying to adjust the sound around that. It'll never sound correct if those channels are swapped.

check GVR's site for sound issue bulletins. They may not be the issue you're having, but a couple have the walk through to get to the sound app in windows.

Use the audio test in the HD Audio app to verify everything is setup correctly. Once you know for sure the sound is being sent to the correct speakers, use the technique I described earlier to get the mix right.

Anyone have a manual online for carbon? Need to see which board operates the motor and the steering pot because neither is working now for some reason.

If it's a board issue does anyone work on these?

Found a single steering board and that fixed the steering/pot issue.
Now the damn music button on the dash isn't working. All the others are though so no clue what's going on.

Got the pc built and have been fighting to get the damn thing working... we upgraded it to an asrock motherboard that uses the same processor/chip set so it should be compatible. The guy trying to get this thing going is having tons of issues with drivers. He said something about an INF asking for a PCI.sys file, which should be on the restore disk from global vr, but that says it doesn't exist.

Maybe the restore disk we're using isn't "new" enough to run this mobo? I know global vr sells "newer" os restore disk, but not sure if that will fix all the issues we keep running into

I'd venture a guess to say it's wiring. I pulled my undergound apart and found the wiring had a short in it. Re wired and placed wire loom around it.

It was a chip on the nitric board actually. The pc is back to lagging/freezing again so we're trying to get a newer/upgraded pc working, but fighting issue after issue with that.
