I connected a new monitor to my Centipede upright and it did not work. I then re-connected the original monitor and it did not work any more. The marquee and coin insert slot lights work, but the game is not playable. I checked all of the fuses and none were blown. I noticed that the red light on the PCB did not work any more. Could connecting the new monitor have destroyed the PCB? Thanks.

Have you gone through the basics? Check fuses with multimeter, ensure the board is receiving power with a multimeter, ensure your AC power cord didn't accidentally get spliced while you were moving your cab, etc. Sometimes it's the simplest of things.

I checked all seven fuses with a multimeter and they are all good. I don't know how to check the PCB with a multimeter. The little red light on the PCB does not come on anymore when the game is turned on. I don't know if the PCB itself is damaged, or if something else is damaged, causing the PCB to not receive power.

Also check the edge connectors on the PCB - I was getting intermittent power issues on my cab, until one day a resistor blew on my AR2. The edge connector was really loose - it would almost slip off sometimes. It should require a little bit of force to put on and pull off, and if you don't have that, there's a chance that the connectors aren't all making contact.

If you have not already done so, replace the big blue capacitor in the AC power brick in the bottom of the cab and rebuild the ARII board.

These two things will help prevent all kinds of crazy power problems if you are having them now or will prevent you from having them in the future.

Any time I get an Atari game those two pieces get replaced/repaired.

AR

I've got a few working AR pcbs.. And I also can rebuild yours..
Tested and working ARs are $35
Rebuilt ones are $45

Plus $12 shipping with tracking

Would connecting an incompatible monitor cause these problems? I don't know if something happened to the PCB or the ARII board. The little red light on the PCB does not come on anymore, so it seems like either the PCB got damaged, or it is not getting power.

Who knows..

These are old games man.. Who knows what happened, surge, connector damaged, static.. Could be anything.. Test your AR board and make sure your getting the right voltages to the pcb.. The little red light could also be burned out..

what was the monitor you hooked up and we can tell you if it will work. i dont think a monitor would cause that type of problem. make sure you have your interlocks pulled out, on on the backdoor and one in the coin door. if you have a multi-meter you can take some simple voltage measurments to verify the problem.
