Anyone know of a guy? I can't get the guy that I used in the past to come over here. I am looking for someone that can work on my NBA Jam Tournament Edition. I live in Raleigh, NC.

What's wrong with it?

from the sounds of it, it was resetting. OP says they replaced the CMOS battery and the problem went away.

I'm still inclined to believe it's a voltage issue... a multimeter and like 120 seconds and this could be resolved. lol

OK

Ok, going to Radio Shack today to get a multimeter. Where do I attach the leads once I buy it, and what am I looking for?

Check your switching power supply and maybe boost your +5. I have a Marvel V. Capcom 2 that kept resetting after about five minutes. I turned the +5 up and problem solved. That also happened on my Simpson's cab where I adjusted the +5.

I'm going to just assume it's a screw terminal power supply, cause that's what NBA Jam came with. you'll have a red and black probe on your meter... you'll have to set your range to 20 volts DC. put the red probe on the +5, and the black probe on the GND or COM (ground or common, varies by power supply manufacturer).

I think I told you in the other thread, you want to set your +5 to 5.20, there should be an adjustment knob for the +5 on your power supply. make note of which way to turn it to adjust it, and don't go crazy turning the knob, you only need to turn it very slightly and very VERY gradually.

do this with the jamma board unplugged and the machine powered on. Sounds crazy but it's not and will save your jamma board if you get to wild with the adjustment pots :D

Raleigh is is more like central NC. Eastern NC goes from like Elizabeth City, down through maybe Greenville, and Wilmington.

Are you the DJ guy?

eh... not necessarily.

switching power supplies require a load on them. run them without a load for too long (some say 10-15 seconds) then uh... yeah, power supply dies.

hence my little invention with the light bulb. remember that? lol

what coin door lights and marquee don't count? :D

i remember your light bulb flux capacitor tool i must build one :D lol

Technically, if the PWM IC is capable of pulse skip mode, it won't blow up un(der)loaded. :p

But I don't expect an Arcade PSU from the 90's to have that. :D

depends if the coin door lights are wired in the original way... although I think those run off -5V, I don't really know how they work. it's different with the isolation transformer block that the Midway cabs came with, it's like a piggyback thing that goes back through the JAMMA harness.

and the marquee runs off direct AC.
