So I always have a space issue with my setup; I would and could buy 10 cabs, but wife would kill me; have to make the game room look like a game room and not an arcade.

Anyway, I have space for 2 cabs now, question is, do I buy a tricked out MAME cab and another pin?

Or do I buy two cool dedicated cabs, and just play MAME on my laptop and complement with PS4/Xbox One/Switch?

Get another pin and a nice dedicated game.

Then quietly add a game a week.

holy shiz +1 rep hahahahaha ... caught me on that one

I'd just buy a new wife

#3: Convince your wife to add more games.

No matter what your setup is, you will always want more. A pin and a dedicated machine if you could only have two is the way to go. A JAMMA switcher is also an option. You can have a dedicated machine and play the actual board in your machine.

Definitely add a pin if you have the space for one.

My suggestion for the arcade cabinet would be something tasteful like a Multi-Williams set up. Have the Williams classics in a nice Williams cab for a while. Then, sell it when you get tired of it and put in another "multi" game like a Playchoice or something.

But, to be truthful, a 60-1 will get the most play... :(

Lots of choices out there.

1. TRADE: Get a car too.

2. Get one with a warrantee. :)

3. Re-educate the one you got.

For the games, get a pin and a classic (original) game. Please - NO MAME.

I'm building a multi Williams with a Jrok board. Added a 2 way jamma switcher and a dedicated moon patrol board. There are some great non-emulation multi kits out there.

If it were me, i would buy 2 games that would hopefully interest my wife in the hobby, even if it is just playing the games. Then hopefully she would be able to suggest others, or you could "recommend getting a 3rd multi-game" and go from there.

If that doesn't work, then you can always "come across the one you always wanted" and "buy it then sell the other as soon as you can" and then "Wonder why no one is buying your original game" for the high retail price you have listed it for.

Then repeat as many time until you get to 10 games, or one of the previous suggestions comes true...

Im sure the MAME guys will have a freak out but..

every single person I know who did up a MAME setup ended up getting rid of it.

Fun for a while and then for most people the novelty of a zillion games wears off so they stop turning it on.

They are about impossible to sell also so you end up giving it away.

Get a vertical or horizontal jamma cab that you can insert say the Phoenix arcade sd pcb or other good multi pcb. Then if that's not enough throw mame in there.

get a good cab that you can rotate monitor and change boards easily. maybe even allow you to change control panels. So dynamo hs1(19").

if you like the look of a dedicated cab, maybe a nice looking mk1 or mk2(25"). you can find or make control panels for it.

If you like pinball, then get one. video games can be played other ways, pinball can't.

I have space for two games. I elected for a DDR machine (the reason I got into arcade repair in the first place) and a multi running a 2019-in-1 board. I've had that multi for 5 years. I will never tire of it or sell it.

That being said...I fix games for a living. I get it out of my system when a game I like passes through my hands before I sell it.
