I am working on restoring an upper deck pitch and bat. My targets are getting terribly worn and the paint is starting to deteriorate. I would like some advice on how to exactly restore my targets so that they can stand up to the beating that the steel balls will be giving them. any particular clear coatings or material that will protect and preserve the new artwork. currently I am using adobe illustrator to draw new artwork and I have a color laser printer to print it and was wondering if I should print it on a sticker or take the files to a professional printer to get them printed somehow on a vinyl? If sticker what kind and make?

here are some examples of how the targets were degrading from an original owners attempts at restoration and normal game wear

this is my attempt to reconstruct the artwork on the targets. First I removed the paint from the targets. I next had to draw the artwork for the targets using adobe illustrator in vector format so that it could be scaled properly and look good when printed. I used ultra duty ghs chemical labels from avery 60501 to be the most durable label I could find. labels were cut into squares and then placed on the targets. After the labels were placed on the target a clear vinyl that is used for car lettering was applied over the labels to protect them from the steel balls. holes for the rivets had to be cut out of both the label and the clear vinyl so that both the label and vinyl could be laid flat on the targets. I could have drilled out the rivets and then redo them after the labels were applied but I didn't want to add that much unnecessary work.
