hi all, im fairly new here on the forum. my name is James,

anyway... i have a mk2 machine in need of restore, i was thinking, is it worth the time and effort to convert it to a mk1 machine?

i know i want to do this and will enjoy converting it - i just need some input if this is the right thing to do before i start striping the sideart art.

please see attachment - the side art is really good for age,

Welcome. You may get differing opinions, but I would advise against converting that game. Many of us spend lots of time undoing conversions, so that crowd would vote against that option. It looks really nice. A MK1 board set will drop right in there (T unit) and play with no modifications. Raiden is on both games, so no need to destroy the nice art. Or, you could sell this and buy a MK1. MK2 is better though, IMO.

Mk 1 has a slightly different shaped cabinet. Most members here are purists and would recommend it remain an mk2. (that's machine had the best looking art IMO).

If it was me, I would clean it up and add a switcher so you can play mk1 and mk2 on the cabinet

thank you for your suggestions but im really in love with mk1 artwork so ive decided instead of ruining the mk2 machine i'll just buy a mk1 cab and have the two cabs side by side.

also, that attachment i uploaded isnt very clear - i'll try get better photos uploaded in future.

Cool! Yeah, my advice would have also been to keep it MK2 and just look to trade it for a MK1. The cabinets have slight differences. Besides, you can play MK1 in the thing by just swapping boards or adding a switcher. :p
