need advice about playfield wear

I am in the middle of making a deal to pick up a taxi pin.

The game plays pretty nicely, the right flipper is a little weak at times I noticed.
But most importantly there are a couple of wear spots on teh playfield. Almost down to no color in a couple of spots near bumpers. 2"x2" spots at biggest.

should I be concerned

most people dont wax their playfields and the ball wears the paint off. you can touch it up but it wont look the same. you might be able to buy a fitted piece of mylar for the TAXI but im not sure.
if it were i, i'd touch up the playfield and clearcoat it but it depends on how bad it is. i might even just buy a new playfield if they are available.

the flipper probably just needs a new sleeve in the coil to strengthen it up and a little lube on the pivot points.

lastly i'd replace all the electrolytic capacitors wherever i could find them and reflow cold solder joints too. check the pins inside the connectors for oxidation and weakness and replace as necessary.

How much are you getting the game for? If you aren't concerned about the wear other than for resale then I wouldn't worry about it, just play the game and have fun.

On the other hand if you do care about resale you want to be careful.

That really depends on condition of all games. DK is one of the few vids that's still selling for a good price.

Taxi is notorious for wear around the pop bumpers. I would really have to see some pictures to give you my full critique.

it looks worn around the bumpers like you said.
I suppose I can try to touch it up.
After I get it I may get pics up for some advice.

I am pretty sure I will go through with the trade, some time
in the next week or 2.

yeah, he said a bunch of people tried getting the taxi, but he's holding it
for me.
I guess he kind of has to,lol.
Otherwise I won't go back and fix his centipede. lmfao
