Was updating the website yesterday with some better pictures of certain games, and this picture...

brought out a huge smile on my face. :D I still can't believe we were lucky enough to pick up the Battlezones for free last Spring.

That is pretty cool. It's been such a long time since I've played BattleZone in the arcade, I love that game.

Great photo!

I don't think I have ever seen a battlezone without the shroud on it. It looks way different, but very cool! Was that factory? Are those more rare than the one with the 'viewfinder'?

I remember reading that Atari offered it as a kit because the periscope obscured the audiences view of the game play. I guess some operators thought it hurt profits so they wanted something more open.

I think it may be more rare, but I don't think it adds any value to the game to be honest. I like it just because it's different and looks good next to Red Baron. :D

That picture is great!

I actually have those three as well. My Red Baron is in a worse shape than that one though. The open face Battlezone looks killer when it is just sitting there in attract mode, but the periscope version gives you a way better feel.

Thanks for the pic.

Nice pic. I think that's the first time I've seen anyone here post a pic of their Red Baron.

I just picked up a few Battzlezones myself. Which one would everyone keep if you could only have 1 of the 2 styles? The one with or without the shroud?

I like playing both but if I had to keep one, it'd be the one with the periscope.

BUT, if I had to keep one that the whole family could play... it'd be the non-periscope one. My daughter can only play that one and I think my wife likes it better too.
