I have had a gauntlet legends board for a while running perfect, I love it. My friend had an extra video card and pic chip to upgrade to nba showtime/blitz 2000 but he did not have the sound or boot. So I downloaded the mame nbanfl boot and sound files, programmed them, but after that, both games launch right up to where you select a team or about to start the game and then the screen goes blank, then restarts. A few years ago I lost all my original files for all the arcade games I had collected in the past 10+ years due to a failed hdd, so I dont have the original 2.5v/2.6v boot eprom & sound eprom files. Can anyone help me or direct me in the right direction to find the original boot/sound files (2.5v/2.6v)? I'm using the original 2.5v/2.6v hdd image, I'm not using the mame chd image.

Sounds like you need a different hard drive. If you have the wrong revision then it will do that. I upgraded my 2.5 to a 3.0 but tried using the 2.5 HD. It did exactly what you are describing.

Edit: What does your pic chip say?

My pic chip is the Blitz 2000 pic which uses the 2.5v or 2.6v u27 game boot. I have the original hdd image for the 2.5v/2.6v u27 boot but no original 2.5v/2.6v u27 boot files.

I downloaded the mame nbanfl u27 boot file and tried that. I remember back in the day using the original u27 2.5v/2.6v eprom boot files but lost that a few years ago due to a hdd crash on my pc.

So there are different hdd revision game images? I wasnt aware of that, I thought there was the one 2.5v/2.6v boot HDD game image and the 2.7v boot (GOLD) HDD game image. Thank you Mitsurugi for your help, very nice of you, I would love to get this sucker up and running. Any ideas?

can anyone help? I dont mind paying for the original 2.5v or 2.6v boot file eprom, please let me know, I would love to play nba showtime/blitz 2000, thanks.

I contacted him mecha, all he had was the mame version. Anyone have an idea of where I can get the 2.5v or 2.6v boot eprom?

not sure, but why not just upgrade everything? does he not do the security chips too? I think ToplessZ on here (I'm wearing the poor guy's name out these days) did like all of that, probably best to do then you can replace the hard drive too.

I'm not sure how plentiful these boards are as it is, I can say I've never seen a non-working one sold on here or auctioned off on ebay.

I wish I could help you, but mine's whatever the newest version was. (2.7?)

Thanks Mecha, I wish someone had the 2.5v or 2.6v boot. I have the blitz 2000 security chip and dont want to fork out for the upgrade to the 2.7v (GOLD). I have everything to run the 2.5v/2.6v drive except the correct original 2.5v or 2.6v boot file. There has to be someone out there with the original 2.5v/2.6v boot file. I tried the 2.7v GOLD drive on the my board with the (MAME BOOT u27 & Blitz security), it wont launch Blitz 2000 gold, but NBA Showtime gold works fine. Tried the 2.5v/2.6v Drive (MAME BOOT u27 & Blitz security) and it just resets on both games once it gets to about the loading screen for teams, etc... Anyone know anyone with the original 2.5v or 2.6v u27 file? I will pay for it, no problem.

yeah, I figure since any way you'll wind up spending money, I'd just go for the full 3.0 upgrade kit. I wish there was an easier solution but... :/

I hear ya mecha, but finding the 2.5v or 2.6v original file should only cost me $10, so that is what I'm shooting for, if anyone knows or can get me the file, it would be greatly appreciated.

yeah, whatever works. and is most cost effective. I'd keep checking ebay, you'd be amazed at the odd shit that pops up on there.

good luck, such an awesome game.

I might actually have a PIC chip at home I could sell you. (will verify what version it is tonight)
I could sell it but it'd have to go with the hard drive as a kit simply because it's of no use to me without one or the other. This was a working pull.

I have the following items which were working pulls. Chips were stored in a plastic tube upon removal.
U27 BOOT version 2.6 NFL Blitz 2000/NBA Showtime
Also another chip IIRC which is the Blitz 2000 Sound Prom <-- sorry I sold my unit off a long time ago to check which one this is but I'm pretty sure it's the sound PROM
Seagate HArd Drive Model ST34311A

Drop me a PM and make an offer. Shipping shouldn't be any more than ~$7.00 USPS.
