Hi guys,

I'm under the impression that NBA JAM can be updated to NBA JAM Tournament Edition by just replacing the ROMs. I've currently got a NBA JAM 3.01 board, which I pulled the ROMs, erased them, and reflashed them with the MAME NBAJAMTE romset (which is v4.0 of TE), but it doesn't work properly. When going into the test menu the bottom half of the screen is a garbled view of the basketball court, and the game itself doesn't work at all. Tested with and without the sound board.

Pulled the ROMs and verified them, they all work fine. I've since erased the ROMs and reflashed the NBA JAM set, and that's working perfectly.

Has anyone got any ideas/info?

Cheers

Kev

from what i understand the te board is simular if not the same as an mk II board because you can ust the t unit sound board for both mkII and nba jam te just by swapping the sound roms give that a try find an mkII board and see

all i was saying is check to see if the main boards are the same and burn new roms and put them on a mkII board and see if it works from what i can see the hard ware is the same main board and sound board

did you do all the roms (video and sound) or just the game roms? cause if you just did the game roms, that's the problem. otherwise, the only other thing I can think of is that the MAME set is wonky, for whatever reason it doesn't show up properly in my audits anymore, meaning it doesn't show as an Available game, but if I manually run it under like All Games, it'll work.

I recently sold my TE board, so I have nothing to contribute to the cause. :(

TE boards are so cheap nowadays (they usually go for about $30), I would just buy one and have both.

Sorry for the late replys all, got some family health issues going on.

MKII boards are expensive in Australia, not that easy to just get one :).

Hahaha, wish that was the case in Australia! Fancy selling me one for $30, I'd be rapt!

...but you should get version 1.0 of the Tournament Edition since it has Mortal Kombat characters hidden.

If/when I do get it sorted, I'll try all of the different versions; I tend to like the fiddling lots too :D ;)

So has anyone got any more info/ideas?
