My NBA Jam TE board was working fine. Im currently doing a restoration on a TMNT. I wanted to test the TMNT board on my NBA Jam just to see if everything works fine. Everything did work fine. So I reconnected the NBA Jam TE board and the sound wasnt working. It was making funny sounds. When I did the dignostics sound test this is what it said.

"WARNING- Unable to detect sound board irq.. This may result in errant sounds."

What exactly does that mean and can anybody tell me what Im doing wrong. Thanks

did you put the ribbon cable or power cable on backwards?

Well thats what I thought too.. But it looked like it was connected correct.. But I will try to switch it and see what happens.. But I will have to do it tomorrow because it is in storage... Ill let you know what happens.. Thanks

Yeah, most of the time when you get a "Sound IRQ" issue, it's usually a ribbon cable on wrong/bad.

If you pull the cable out by the ribbon sometime that will create an open and cause you to have a bad cable..

You can repair a bad cable if you have a vice.. If you carefully remove the connector you can put the connector on a fresh section of the ribbon cable. Carefully line up the pins to the top of the connector, you can squeeze the connector on the fresh section of the cable using a vice.

If you have a sharp box cutter you can slice off the bad part of the cable. Watch you fingers ..

I could have sworn I checked it twice.. But I guess it was connected wrong because now it works. It still kinda makes funny noises at the begining but its not a big deal.. Works now.. Thanks

Why don't you replace the cable and see if the funny noises in the beginning go away?

I could be that a reset line is not communicating And causing the issue.
