NBA Jam Power Issue

The only reason it's relevant to me is because I've been so puzzled over the NBA Jam wiring diagram. All the colors are different in the TMNT cab. Sure enough the colors in the TMNT wiring diagram match up with my power supply.

So I've done my best to diagram my power situation. All the wires match up to the tmnt manual except for one extra fuse I have. I'm still (obviously) confused on where to connect my counter and coin door lights. The NBA Jam manual showed the connections for the coin door lights, but TMNT does not. Here is a link to the manual and I've attached both diagrams:

If anyone can show me where to connect my lights I'll gladly make a $10 donation to the forums!

Since your Isolation transformer does not produce the 5.9 Volts AC that the NBA JAM game does. Since even after searching, I still don't know what TNMT coin door lights are rated at you might want to try this. Try temperately hooking the TNMT light to the 5 volt source. If they glow a Dull orange. It would indicate that you not getting enough voltage.

If and only If the bulb is glowing orange you can try plugging it into the 12 volt side of the power supply to see if the bulbs will produce a nice light for your coin door.

If there are Numbers on the Bulb and on your counter, if you post those numbers. We can help you a lot better.

Accroding to the TNMT maunal I found thanks to Modessitt

There is a warning to only plug the counter to the board.

I am going to reference the NBA JAM to see if the counter is hooked up the same...

The NBA JAM game uses a 5 volt counter.
meaning 5 volt positive hooks up to one side and the other wire goes to pin #8 on your jamma connector.

The TMNT uses a 12 Volt counter according from what I can tell. You might need to switch counter out to a 5 volt system.

So I connected the light to the 5 volt screw on the power supply and it had the pale orange glow you described. I then plugged it into the 12 volt screw and it glowed nice and bright! The only problem is that the bulbs seem to heat up very quickly. It was too hot to touch after only a few minutes. Is this normal?

I attached images, however they don't really do the lights justice, they look a lot brighter in the pics. When I close the coin door you can barley see the light through the red coin reject button.

The bulbs say TB1LF 194LL on them.

Is this normal?

Also, I went ahead and ordered the 5 volt counter, hopefully it will solve that problem. From what Alphatron said it should do the trick!

thanks for all the help!!!!

#194LL is a 14 volt bulb. So 12 volts DC should work well. Just make sure your bulb doesn't touch the back of the coin door sign or you might have a Melting issues. You might want to use a 12 volt LED light bulb if heat becomes an issue.

That bulb look really bright by the picture (hard to tell by pictures). You might want to try running the bulb in series and see if it bright enough for you. 6 volts per. Brighter than 5 volts.

try #555s if it's a wedge type, #44 if it's a twist in type. (don't recall what those Konami cabs used, haven't seen one in about 20 years!)

if I'm not mistaken you can use the -5 as a power source for the coin door lamps, I was thinking of doing that on my Tekken Tag which is in a newer Midway cab without the isolation transformer and uses the Coin Door header on Midway boards (which Tekken Tag lacks).

Any one on this thread know about the fuses that are in the trans box at the bottom of the cab ?? It says 3 amp 125v slow blow are there special types of fuses that I should Juss b able to find at home depot or something ?? I have found 3 amp , I've found 125 v an slow blow fuses ... But none that have all three 3amp 125v slow blow .... Is it ok to put in none slow blow or 250 v ??

Also I have some plugs on my jamma harness that I'm not sure where it goes .... I know the one cable that goes to the monitor , I got the speaker one , I got the coin door one an the the 1-4 player harness but there's two others I'm not sure where they go .......
