Hey all, I recently purchased an NBA JAM board off of ebay. It was sold as "tested working". I plugged it up and it came up with a ROM error. It said UG17 was bad, but it still played fine after that. I have a rom burner so I decided to replace the rom. After I replaced it, the board tested ok and played for about 5 minutes.

Then all the sudden, all of the graphics became garbled. You can still make out the players and text, but it's like the screen is covered in rainbow-colored snow. When I turn it off and back on, it now comes up with a RAM error: UA8 is bad.

My question is, is UA8 really bad, and if it is, will replacing it fix the graphics problem? Or is my board beyond repair?

Sorry, I would have searched around first, but the search engine does not allow 3-letter words, making "nba jam" rather difficult to search for.

scrambled graphics and the like are caused by bad rams, so yes, replacing the ram should correct your problem. :)

wish I didn't have like 28357325 games already, I'd totally go for an NBA Jam TE.
