NBA JAM $30ish

ok here's the link

http://www.therealbobroberts.net/parts.html

using your browsers "find" function search for NBA it's the item right under the replacement sound boards (which he's sold out of), and says this:

"For above snd bds: Ribbon cables or power cables or replacement volume control & cable--your choice $7.50"

Respect to him for his obvious earned reputation for his massive knowledge of arcade tech, but making an order using bazooka joe gum wrappers is easier than what he expects.

His website is "Noob" and so are his payment methods, otherwise people would know about it. Nobody should have to search a giant list with ctrl+f in 2011 and pay a minimum 7$ shipping using a money order. If the guy wants to pay someone to make him a legit website, tell him to contact me. Otherwise I'd rather find an alternate, more consistent source.

Actually, pretty much anyone with any knowledge of the industry knows about him and his website.

You're allergic to sending him a personal check? He takes them, you know. You place an order to him via email, you get your product about 3 days later, often times cross shipped the following day.

Suit yourself. There's probably not a better, more consistent, or easier person to order from out there in the industry.

Good luck with that. Your attitude is costing you on this one. If you want the customer service of a seller that has been around forever, you sometimes have to do things their way. $.44 isn't much, and there are very few who can match his service. Probably none who can match his knowledge on these parts.

Yes, bob Roberts site is not the greatest designed website but than again parts are shipped in a timely fashion parts keep getting stocked. Parts are reasonable priced.

Could the site be better? So How much more do you want to spend on a professional website? Gee, Do you really want to spend more on my parts just to get that fancy website?

Pay pal? Pay pal can be a pain to deal with at least 4% off the top. Dealing with charge backs take time and effort and create a lot of hassles. How much more do you want to spend for your parts? Do you really want to line pay pal pockets or spend more because of some dead beat wants to rip off a web site?

Yes, bob Robert site is no walmart, amazon or ebay but lets face facts there not a huge market for some of these parts. Electronic stores are a closing down. People with the knowledge are getting harder to find. Bob site with all it's draw back is still better than tracking down each part. Digikey is a slick website but who know if this is the part you need?

I haven't seen a lot of new arcade electronic site opening up. Every time an arcade machine is mamed, 1 in XXX, Sold for parts, Crushed, burned or trashed, It one less arcade machine out there that needs parts. It means the demand for these parts get less and less. You tell me how many people will invest their time in a market that is shrinking?
You got to have a great love for these machines. You got to deal with a business model that is always shrinking.

Bob Robert's site with all it's flaws is still a gem of a website for those who repair our games by ourselves.

Gets off soap box. Crawls back to my cave and growls at the world... LOL

I am not a fan of Bob's site, but he rocks! Very fast and friendly email communication, cross ships, and my hard to find crap arrives in one or two days!!

Speaking of NOOBS... sheesh.

Lol, says the guy with the joke character from tekken as his avatar.
Tekken is a fighting game for gamers that hate fighting games.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to insult him. His website has obvious faults to it, sorry if putting that to text has deeply offended any of you.

There are much better websites you can make with free software these days and he could definitely use the update as nobody really disagreed with what I was saying about the actual layout. They only defended a 'friends' site and I respect that.

I've been buying from Bob since 2001 and I will agree with this line. I sure wish there was an easier way to find what I am looking for besides scrolling through the entire list.

Bob's prices? Well those are debatable, you get great service for whatever you do buy. But yes I have found things cheaper from other places.

The cross shipping is one of the reasons he is a favorite, you get your stuff fast.

The guys is f#cking retired and still spends his time helping all of us keep these machines n working order. You think it is too much of your time to spend an extra 30 seconds finding the part you want then make it yourself. Oh, right, you don't know how.

His website works fine for him. If you don't like it, go somewhere else. In case you don't know, here are the reasons that we all are more than happy to order from Bob:

1) He has everything you need. Even just to do a rebuild of a G07 board I would have to order from at least three other sites to get all the parts I need. The shipping from those three combined is much more than $7.

2) He cross ships, often even if you have never ordered from him before. Do you want your game to work the day after tomorrow? Or, do you want your game to work in two weeks when parts arrive from some other vendor.

3) Free shit! Included with almost every order.

4) He knows what parts you need even if you don't. If you are not entirely sure what parts you need for a project, you can email him and let him know what you are doing. He will let you know exactly what is needed to get your game going. Personal service that you don't get from any other website.

5) There is no alternate, more consistent, source. Period.

6) His website is not "noob". His website was taking shrapnel in Khe San when you were still shitting in your diapers and wiping it on your face. As an American, I am proud to support Bob Roberts' website!

Anyone know where I can buy the power cables for this game? Or where I can get the proper wiring and molex connectors without some online store charging me ridiculous fees just for putting the items in a bag and then having to pay shipping on top of it, as my hardware store doesn't have either.

His website works fine for him. If you don't like it, go somewhere else.

Thank you for your 25 cents, bro.

Sorry. That part came out rather dickish.

You could of course order the molex connectors, pins, and a bunch of reels of wire. That will probably cost you more than ordering from Bob. And you will most likely still have to order the connectors from the internet. Very few things these days use that type of connector. Congrats on the purchase, and good luck.

Bob is lucky because he has been selling this way since the 1990s (money orders only, same website) and people still order from him despite him never "updating" the way he does business. If anyone else refused to take paypal or creditcards no one would probably order from them. I agree that sending a money order is a pain and an outdated way to pay. But using Paypal can open up another can of worms, and his "old" way of doing business has always worked so more power to him if he doesn't have to change. He's just from a different period of the internet, I first found out about him when I had AOL in 1996 and still used places like rec.games.marketplace to buy arcade boards, but he's still the best so you've got to hand it to him.

Keep in mind it's also a hobby for him, not a source of income, so I doubt he cares about extra sales from paypal. The day he does stop selling it will suck because you'll have to spend a lot more energy finding spare part kits.

Why do people keep saying they have to use money orders for Bob? Does no one have checking accounts anymore? He does take personal checks you know.

Bob is an asset to the arcade collecting community. The guy will go out of his way to help you find parts and he ships your order before he receives payment. Who else ships your order before they get payment?

Bob will be greatly missed when he finally decides to call it quits. Hopefully someone will continue with what he has created.

I am glad to have created a thread about NBA Jam that has lead all of you to pay respect to someone who seems to truly deserve it in the community.

Perhaps all of you should pull together and donate a couple bucks for him to have a newer cleaner website for his massive contribution.

Ha. Nice one!

Here ya go: http://www.orderfrombob.com/

Surprised no one has mentioned it yet.
Still have to send a check or MO as payment but there's the whole 'cross-shipping' and 'free stuff' advantage to make up for it.

PS: I don't think you're a 'noob'... I was just playing.
