I have used NAVL for many years (over 10) and I have never had a problem with them. I have heard of other collectors having games show up damaged but I would continue on using them with no problems. Well I guess my luck finally ran out.
I bought Dan's (hatrick) New York New York and had NAVL ship it to me. Dan REALLY understated the condition IMHO. He said it was in GOOD condition. I would consider it NEAR MINT which makes this all even more painful.
I have attached pics. The first three are of the damaged areas. The last two were ones Dan had taken before it was shipped.
This whole thing makes me SICK! Not only is this game SUPER RARE but it is the early production cabinet which makes it even rarer yet.
I have a total of $835 into it with shipping. The standard insurance is $1,500 so I should be ok as long as everything goes smooth with the claim.
Not sure what I'll do after the claim issue is over. It appears that I might be able to pop the left side wall back in place and I could use a black sharpie marker to touch up the crack lines on the right side. It might look really good after that but the marquee will still have that small piece missing.
Needless to say anyone who knows me knows how fussy I am and just the fact that the cabinet is damaged will probably make me not want to keep it.
So I'll have to think it over but I might be selling it off fairly cheap once I get through the claim process.
At least the new owner would know what they are getting with no surprises. I'm having a REAL hard time with this considering it's condition before NAVL picked it up.
