Opened the back door and saw that it was filled with trash (or so I thought). Saw a power supply on the bottom when everything else was mounted on the sides. I thought I had my work cut out for me. I grabbed the power supply and it had some bubble wrap on it. I grabbed a piece of cardboard from the bottom and found that this was a box for the power supply. Found a baggie that turned out to be mounting hardware. Apperently someone bought a new power supply and decided not to use it so I got a fancy NOS switching power supply for use on another project. Also found the machine's manual and a lot of record slips for keeping track of the number of plays and such. Found the bolt sets for the control panel. Turns out that whenever something was taken off they just threw it in the bottom of the cab.
Cleaned inside the cab and secured all of the monitor cables to fix the scramble issue...worked like a charm. Went to check the game and turns out all of the dip switch settings were turned off. That made the game go into cocktail mode instead of upright. So I went back and put it into factory settings (thanks to the manual). Game and monitor issues fixed.
Reattached the control panel. Then replaced the buttons and switches. It had broken leaf switches and changed it to nice micros. Also changed the white buttons for black ones to better match the cab (and black was the only color I had). Fixed the wiring for Player One Start.
Changed the bayonet bulbs for the coin rejects.
Then came the scrub down. The cab was filthy. I used rubbing alcohol, magic erasers, and even Spitfire along with about 5 clean white rags to do the job. All of the rags came out very dark brown. It was quite gross. Cleaned and shined the bezel with Novus 1, 2, and 3. Here are the after pix...
I don't try to make my games perfect as they are 30 years old and I think the little dings give it character. Someone cut on the Naughty Boy's eyes on the side art (a naughty boy must have done it). There are a couple of scratches on the cab. All this is fine with me. The only things that still need done is to change the marquee bulb and new T-molding but that stuff will have to wait until I have funds. Hope you enjoyed my mini post.
