I visited the National Videogame Museum today, in Frisco, TX. Really cool experience, although it's skewed largely towards consoles. They do have an amazing collection of every console and home computer ever made I think, and tons of memorabilia. They had a dead mint (I'm sure it was restored) Computer Space and another similar style fiberglass game that wasn't on.

They also have an arcade with about 30 games, mostly "golden age" games. Most in great condition. Their Robotron looks and feels like it's brand new, the joysticks are like nothing I've played in 40 years! And many of the games appeared to have brand new CRT's based on how vivid and bright the monitors were.

Worth the twelve bucks, and you get 4 tokens with admission.

The Computer Space is original and unrestored, I'm the one who donated it. ;) Came from a home where the owner bought it new for his kids, they didn't like it, so it sat in their basement for 30+ years.

Well it was beautiful, and dead mint!

Years ago I remember a bunch of people sending games to Texas for a Museum that fell thru, or is this it?

That was a different guy. That ended up imploding and the games got sold off. Lots of hard feelings after so many people cut that guy great deals because it was going to be an awesome museum.

I want to say that was "DanOfEarth" or someone like that. It's been a long time since that happened!

Almost sound like banning.... lol

Thanks, that sounds right. I seem to remember a lot of games were sent his way.

Should be called the National HOME Video Game Museum because that's what their focus is. That Computer Space game was stolen from then at some point prior to the museum opening and later recovered.

I've been to the National Videogame Museum here in Frisco, TX. They have a small arcade there, it's mostly home console games and stuff. Some really cool stuff, but not much focus on the arcade games. Their Computer Space is beautiful, but you can't play it.

Oh my gosh, yes. Hundreds of games and people cut him incredible deals for valuable games. And then things fell apart and people weren't happy when they got sold off.

Wow! I had no idea that there was a video game museum in Frisco! I'm going to go this weekend! WooHOO!!! :D

wow, they should of been sold back to the people they came from....so sad

Someone recently visted the NVM and posted some photos. Their Asteroids Deluxe cab isn't exactly 'museum quality'.

Seriously. I don't see any cig burns on that Robot Ron CPO either! WTF?!?!

ROFL! If y'all come in from out of town, give me a shout. I do repairs and have donated a lot of items over the years to the museum. It's nice to see some of those items on display and play on the gear I've repaired. :)

The founders are great guys and the museum is plugged into the local retrocomputer community, arcade community, and does regular events. They've even sponsored repair clinics that I've assisted with.

If you come to down in 2026, aim for May 29th-31st and you can go to our little retrocomputer show: www.vcfsw.org. My friends and I have worn ourselves out putting that show on and the NVM (and Keith from the Houston Arcade Expo!) has been a huge help to us with getting it off the ground.
