There are two different loading methods discussed in this thread.

1. Non official CF card which requires the mysterious 4.02 firmware. You can use the official sega CF Card but you do need the correct security PIC for that I believe.

2. Netbooting which requires a net dimm with 3.03 or higher firmware, a router and computer, and a network security PIC which is set to 000000000.

For the netbooting option there is some software floating around that makes it so you don't need the security PIC at all. No PIC is needed with the software but it is hard to find and nobody wants to pass it around.

Zero security chips are just that, you need unencrypted game images.

If you have a Sports Jam PIC and a Sega CF device, you could re-encrypt any game with the Sports Jam key (and modify the bootstrap file as necessary) and play it off the CF card using the original Sports Jam PIC. This involves knowing the "protection" Sega use to lock games to specific CF cards. It is fairly weak protection.

I have no interest in running bootleg version of the games. My naomi2 setup is the cartridge kit; I own a few games; will that cf reader setup allow me to dump my games to a cf card and select what game I want to play during startup?

I have a Gundam GX and no good GD-ROM to test with. And now the last time I went to boot Virtua Cop3 I kept getting a no GD-ROM error so now it is down too. Is there any "Dummies guide to CF hacks" that someone knows about I would love to try this. I have the games and security PICs so I am just looking for a cheaper alternative to get these games to run again.

Just an update, seems Ace released a rar with Naomi_DIMM_4.01_Update.bin and some instructions showing the differences in hex between the security removal 4.02 and the stock 4.01. Very cool. You guys should check it out.

He's also thrown in a guide on his compact flash cards that he uses etc.
