I recently hauled home a Crazy Taxi sit-down with a monitor that was rolling out of control vertically. I assumed the Nanao chassis was the culprit, but after hooking it up to a PC, I discovered the monitor is fine.
I decided to try hooking the Naomi system up to a different display. It works when connected to an LCD monitor, and the game seems playable, but the colors (especially whites) are very "streaky". When connected to an old CRT monitor, all I get is a few seconds of garbage before the monitor throws a sync error. And that monitor will sync to anything.
I also noticed that only one audio channel seems to be outputting any sound. The left channel seems to be totally silent (dead?). I'm not getting any sound at all to the cabinet's speakers, but I gather the stereo amps in these machines are pretty flaky to begin with.
I don't know the first thing about Naomi hardware, so before I hop on eBay to track down a replacement, I wanted to at least see if anyone recognizes the symptoms and might be able to suggest some troubleshooting or repair options.
Any thoughts?
