I have been researching doing the Naomi compact flash setup for my cabs and started thinking about SSD. I googled a little bit and didn't find anything. Is this a thing? Can someone school me on it?

Would be expensive considering you can only put one game on per drive... and the drive is only used to load the game in to memory...once the game is in memory it's stored in memory until the battery runs dead...

NAOMI doesn't use a hard drive or anything. The compact flash is used in place of the GDROM ... to load the game in to memory.

Are you thinking of SSD instead of compact flash? The Netboot firmware only works with compact flash as far as I know. You could hack it to work with SSD I suppose on the card reader side, but you'd need to develop your own firmware bridge with direct I/O access to the SSD drive.

I have not seen any SSD on N1 or N2 since there is no SATA or IDE to connect to. Unless you can find an SSD SCSI:). Most people go for Netboot or Rasberry pi. SSD to my knowledge is only doable on Triforce and Chihiro since are IDE ports on DIMM Bd. I have done a few of those.

There is such a thing, cheap ssds and converters both off aliexpress that have been flashed.

As said above not for naomi though, just triforce and chihiro.
