So I have this Naomi shelf that I pulled out of an hs-5 several years ago. It uses the original Sega io board and has the power supply and all other stuff mounted on it (as you can see).

I want to put it in my big blue cabinet where I run a jamma 2-in-1 switcher, currently home to SF2:HF and Xmen vs SF.

Is it possible to jut drop it in as is? Or would the better path be to get a Capcom IO instead? I like having the dedicated power supply for the second board, but would I run into problems as far as sound output, etc?

You will need to find a way to route the sound, as they go directly from the Sega AMP to the speakers.

Also, on your Sega IO, buttons 4 and 5 are on the Jamma harness, button 6 is on the white connector.

The easiest route is a Capcom IO, since it already uses the CPS2 style kick harness, as well as routes the sound through the jamma connector.

Sorry didn't realize that was jamma harnessed one. Yeah that kick harness buttons are gonna get messy. You might be able to get a kick harness multi port, they sell them for Mortal kombats but it might work here too

And if I go the Capcom IO route I can remove everything in the picture except the Naomi mobo right? And then maybe jury rig the power supply in there?

yes, the sound amp, transformer, and all cables would be eliminated. Connect the Capcom io to the Naomi's usb and vga ports, but leave the power connector to the naomi disconnected. You would use your sun psu instead to power the naomi, and the Capcom io will be powered by the Jamma harness.

I've got a NAOMI with MvC 2 via 6 way switcher in my big blue. I use the Capcom i/o, a kick harness condenser, and it plays and switches fine. No need for a separate power supply since the NAOMI gets power via the JAMMA connector. i route the sound via a manual RCA jack stereo switcher.
