Naomi Netbooting

well thats cool, I guess I need to check that out before I put much more effort into it.
I have about 6 confirmed though so I should be able to help those you dont have a burner

Honestly, for the amount of time it takes to find the source, download the pic development tools, make the code changes, burn the pic (that is after you've bought one), etc. What you're asking isn't at all unreasonable. There's a guy from Spain(?) selling them for what comes to $45 shipped to the US.

keep doing what you do.. 90% of us(myself inclused) do not have a burner, or the desire to figure out how to use the damn burner, so you should be just fine.

If i still had a naomi system i would buy one.

i have a netboot setup and was wondering why the battery is removed? not sure if mine is....

You need the battery to be good in order to netboot. Once the game is loaded into your dimm, the naomi board restarts andif the battery is bad the dimm will just dump the data and it wont boot.

from experience you only need a battery if the game is powered down, its not required when running a game via NB as the game stays in the memory, heck on one of my NB I dont have a battery and works great till you turn the game off :p

sometimes you will get an error code , like error 31 if your battery is missing or bad though after you load the game. I guess it just depends onthe motherboard andhow picky it is! LOL
Im using US BIOS 'G' .

I use a windows loader and not the dos python stuff, never had that problem so far, and later hardware doesnt seem to have the issues as does naomi batteries

I tend to use Export Bios on Naomi, just saves swapping from US to JAP at times

Id be interested if I knew what it was :)

Basically its like using mame, but you are running the games on the real hardware. With a Net DIMM in your naomi motherboard you can send game files from your PC to the net dimm via crossover cable and it will load and play the game on your real hardware. Most of the games have been dumped including cartridge and gdroms so there are plenty of games to play once you can netboot. However, in order to Netboot you need the following:

Naomi Motherboard (Naomi 1 or 2, Naomi 2 will run both 1 and 2 games though)
Net Dimm (has to be a net dimm with RJ45 connector), your Net dim must be at least version 3.03(I think, I have the files needed to upgrade to 4.01 /4.02)
PC with networking capability

I use the transfergame program. I'll also include that with the Key

transfergame works well with a pic chip, I tend to use that for Chihiro, only that there is what about 10 games for chihiro, use windows loader for Naomi as over 90 odd games now

I checked it out, its actually about 60.00 shipped after the conversion rate.

OK!!

I am open for Business on these. If you want one send me a message. I'll be contacting those who have already shown interest, if I miss you let me know. THANK!

ALSO
A Crossover cable is the best method of doing this, if you want to make your own or have your own then great. You can also use a router but it gets to be a pain. SOO
I can make crossover cables .. Let me know how long you want it,, lets not get carried away on the length of these though. Ill sell them for 5.00 extra

The netboot pic is 30.00 shipped
Crossover cable include 5.00

A working battery pack is not needed to be able to netboot. I just tested mine without a battery pack at all installed.
