Aloha All,

I just bought out an operator here on Maui and I'm trying to get all his broken/messed up machines in order. One of them is a Jambo Safari cabinet, a Naomi machine. It starts and runs, but lags. It is hard to explain but the game basically turns into a slide show and is unplayable.

I have the Naomi unit out of the game and its in fine shape, no dust, looks clean, etc. Any ideas what it could be?

I realize this game is probably not worth much, but I have it and figure its worth at least trying to get it to work.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I just got back to the location with the board today, its not overheating. The fans spin up fine. The game board seems messed up though, its a total slide show on the monitor from the start. It takes 1 minute or so to boot and then it hangs on a JAMMA board missing error. I think the machine is toast. I'm going to scavenge some parts off of it and toss it.

Why not just replace the Naomi? They can be bought quite cheaply.

I've been looking and I have not found a single place to buy one. Where are the places to buy these units? Is any Naomi board compatible with Jambo Safari?

I would start a thread in the Wanted section on here. If you don't get a response then ebay would be your best bet.

I don't see why it wouldn't be, but I don't know much about the Naomi. Best to let someone more knowledgable answer that.

Jambo Safari is just a cartridge that fits on top of the naomi motherboard. I'd start with replacing the motherboard and seeing if it solves your problem. You could also check the Sega Naomi forums.

I was onsite again where this machine has been sitting dead. It has been dead for long before I bought it. I opened it up and there are some broken connectors and some wires that need reconnecting. The guy I bought it from, in turn bought it from someone else 2 years ago broken.

So its been this way for a while. I got it as part of a large package deal, so I'm not upset if its not fixable. It will just need some time devoted to it.
